Holiday Classic Platinum Bracket: Oregon's Top 4 Performers

South Medford won the prestigious Portland Holiday Classic Platinum Bracket Championship on Tuesday. The Lady Panthers defeated Century 64-44 in the first round, Washington's 4A reigning champion, A. C. Davis, 83-78 in the semifinal, and Faith Family (TX) 50-36 in the final.   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/p/DS8YgjREjk7/?img_index=1 </div></figure>   A.C. Davis junior Cheyenne Hull was the top individual performer in the Platinum Bracket, and possibly among all Holiday Classic players, with 31.3 points (shooting 64% from the field), 14.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game at the tournament. Hull is an elite three-level scorer who led her team to a Third-Place finish.   Tennessee commit Oliviyah Edwards put up big numbers for Lincoln (WA) in the Platinum Bracket. Edwards averaged 29.5 points (shooting 40% from the field) and 14 rebounds in her first two games at the Holiday Classic. The team from Tacoma finished last in the bracket.   Here are Oregon's top four performers from the Platinum Bracket:    Sacramento State commit [player_tooltip player_id='991248' first='Dyllyn' last='Howell'] is having a record-breaking start to her senior season. The South Medford forward/guard scored a career high 34 points, including 9 three-pointers, in a big win against Washington's 4A reigning champion, A.C. Davis, to advance to the Portland Holiday Classic Platinum bracket finals. The Platinum champion averaged 18 points, shooting 49% from the field, and 2.7 steals per game at the tournament.     Portland commit [player_tooltip player_id='832605' first='Sara' last='Mangan'] is an excellent two-way guard. She's a top shooter in the state, has excellent handles and vision, and is a tough defender who has a knack for rebounding. Mangan put up 21 points and 7 rebounds against Washington's 4A reigning champions, A.C. Davis, in the Portland Holiday Classic Platinum Bracket Third-Place game. She averaged 20.7 points, 4 three-pointers made, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2.3 steals per game at the tournament.     San Diego State commit [player_tooltip player_id='828956' first='Mayen' last='Akpan'] is a force on the glass, runs the floor, and consistently scores around the rim. Akpan led South Medford in scoring with 19 points and 13 rebounds to defeat Faith Family (TX) 50-36 in the Portland Holiday Classic Platinum Bracket Final. The double-double machine averaged 16.7 points, shooting 47% from the field, and 11 rebounds per game at the tournament.     [player_tooltip player_id='832597' first='Kiara' last='Green'] decommitted from Howard University in late December and followed the announcement up with a standout performance in a competitive bracket at the Portland Holiday Classic. The Century senior put up 19 points and 6 rebounds against 6A top-four-ranked South Medford in a first-round game. Green averaged 17.3 points, shooting 41% from the field, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks in the Platinum Bracket.    Other Oregon standouts in the Platinum bracket include:   Sacramento State commit Jordan Barlow averaged 11 points (shooting 46% from the field) and 5 assists per game for South Medford.   South Medford junior Payton Andersen averaged 11 points (shooting 60% from the field) and 4.7 rebounds per game.   Southridge sophomore guard Bailey Griffin averaged 10.7 points (shooting 42% from the field), and 3.3 assists per game. Griffin scored 24 points, including 6 three-pointers made, with 6 assists in a first-round game against Lincoln (WA).
