How Princess Anne Is Staying Perfect, Defeating Salem 70–45

The reigning and defending Virginia Class 5 State Champion Princess Anne Cavaliers (Virginia Beach) took their undefeated record on the road to face the 14–2 Salem Sun Devils (Virginia Beach). Seen by many as Princess Anne's first true challenge within the Beach District, both teams featured rosters loaded with players committed to compete at the next level.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">First Quarter</h2>   The opening minutes started deliberately, with both teams working to establish their offensive rhythm. Virginia State commit and Salem senior [player_tooltip player_id='603027' first='Alaya' last='Monroe-Sutton'] gave the home crowd early energy, controlling the paint with strong rebounding and efficient post play.   Not to be outdone, Princess Anne junior [player_tooltip player_id='443350' first='Micah' last='Ojo'] quickly found her rhythm, scoring in a variety of ways and finishing the quarter with nine points.   End of 1st Quarter: Princess Anne 18, Salem 7    The Virginia State Commit provides a strong post presence both offensive and defensively. Posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Division I front court of Princess Anne. Struggled a little bit when checked by Ojo, but used the opportunity to free up teammates.     Ojo, without a doubt is one the best class of 2027's in the country. A five tool player, Ojo provides scoring within the flow of the game, while contributing defensively. Her 26 point 11 rebound performance against Salem High School continues to build her case for the best of 2027    <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Second Quarter</h2>   Monroe-Sutton continued to own the glass to open the second, limiting Princess Anne's second-chance opportunities while extending possessions for Salem. The Virginia State commit did an admirable job forcing tough shots and denying clean touches and looks at the basket.    Estrada had an off night offensively but she found other ways to contribute running the offense against a relentless press, feeding the ball into the post, and forcing [player_tooltip player_id='443350' first='Micah' last='Ojo'] to work for every basket she got. A high motor player she never takes a possession off on either side of the ball.     Midway through the quarter, Ojo was shaken up diving for a loose ball and went to the bench. During that stretch, freshman point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1612419' first='Run' last='Sveinbjornsdottir'] entered and immediately showed leadership and maturity. The Iceland native steadied the offense and delivered several sharp passes in transition, setting up East Carolina commit Tristan Rickenbacher for easy looks. Princess Anne adjusted defensively by placing Ojo on Monroe-Sutton, forcing other Sun Devils to generate offense. However, Princess Anne's pressure and Ojo's explosiveness continued to tilt the game. Salem briefly provided the crowd hope when Estrada beat the buzzer with a 55-footer to end the quarter. With her sidelined, Ojo and Rickenbacher took full control, combining for 15 points in the quarter. Estrada later returned, and Monroe-Sutton continued to battle inside, but a late Princess Anne run put the game out of reach.    The ECU commit had a solid performance with 15 points.
