Sioux Center upset Central Lyon last night to give the Lions their second loss of the season. The biggest reason for this upset was the play of [player_tooltip player_id='777226' first='Maryn' last='Franken'] on both ends of the floor. She started things off by scoring early and scoring often. She was all over the glass, looking for rebounds on both sides of the ball. All while defending her position and the hoop at a high rate. When the final buzzer sounded, Sioux Center won 70-62 and Franken recorded 37 points (14/25), 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. If this is how this Sioux Center group is going to play moving forward, I'd watch out come Playoff time because this will be a team that no one should want to face on the road or at a neutral site.

Independence High School was taken into OT against the Marion Wolves last night on their home court. This game started out in favorite of Independence in a big way. They jumped out to a convincing lead to start the first quarter (25-13) but from there, the Wolves fought back into it, eventually taking the game into extra time. The key prospect for the Mustangs throughout this was Devin Ludwig. Ludwig finished the ball game with a team high 22 points but the most impressive part is that she went 6/6 from behind the three point line. This along with her 6 rebounds was the edge that pushed this group to victory. You can't forget the players that set her up for these shot attempts but at the end of the day, you have to make the shot or it doesn't matter and Ludwig was hitting shots all night long.

You want to talk about having a game to remember? That's what [player_tooltip player_id='832217' first='Lily' last='Myers'] did last night with her 30 point performance in her team's 4th win of the regular season. Myers showed everyone watching last night that when she has a size advantage and weaker defenders on her, she can EAT. Not only did Myers have a 30 ball in her team's W, she did it on 52% shooting from the field within the three point line and she also registered 13 rebounds. In the end, she attempted 13 free throws throughout, showing that she is not afraid to take contact to get to the charity stripe. She still has a year to go but these are some great numbers out of a high octane competitor.

[player_tooltip player_id='951657' first='Tenley' last='Levin'] recorded another double-double last night against CPU High School. Levin is currently close to averaging a double-double on the season in points-rebounds (18.5-8.7) but in this battle she finished with 24 points (5/14), 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. That's a pretty efficient stat line if you couldn't tell. One of the most important parts about this performance to me was the fact that she went 13/13 from the charity stripe. If you want to play late in games when it matters, you need to make free throws at a consistent rate and Levin did that in this outing. So far she has put together an impressive season as we move into February. She just needs to keep stacking the days and she will be a on D1 floor before you know it.

[player_tooltip player_id='839330' first='Paige' last='Kampman'] led Clarksville to another victory on Tuesday night when they handed their opponent, Tripoli, a big loss at home. We could highlight the fact that Kampman led all scores with 26 points and 4 assists but I think where she really stood out more than anything else was as a leader. She was guiding her teammates where they needed to be, attacking opening within the defense, while leaving it all out on the floor - effort wise. Kampman has stepped up to demonstrate to everyone spectating that she is the leader of this Clarksville team at the end of the day. She is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team success and that's something you have to respect.
