The Boyer Valley Bulldogs went on the road and took on Woodbine at their house on Thursday evening to end the week for both team's first round of action. In this battle the Bulldogs handled business and held serve from the first quarter on. They won the first by a handful of points and that helped them hold that lead the rest of the way. Another major reason for their success comes because of their upperclassmen leadership. Woodbine is a solid program overall but they are young. Over the next few years, they are going to be much better because their top prospects will be more experienced. In this one it came down to some intense plays in the fourth quarter and Boyer Valley just happened to come out victorious by hitting some free throws while not turning over the rock.

Region #2 - Cedar Ridge Christian (40) at North Tama (28)

North Tama had the tough task in Round 1 of facing off against a bigger and stronger team in Cedar Ridge Christian at home. CRC holds a handful of players that are over 6'0 while North Tama's biggest presence stands right around 5'10. The Regents saw this advantage inside early on and they made the most of it. Their Post players dominated in the middle of the lane, posting up big numbers in the scoring and rebounding departments at the end of the night. They did a great job of staying consistent on the offensive glass, bringing in 11 second chance opportunities and that's something that made a big difference in their victory.

Key Players: Ana Aguilar (8 Pts, 15 Rebs, 3 Blks, 2 Asts), Gabrielle Baker (10 Pts)

Region #4 - Clayton Ridge (34) at Central Elkader (31)

The Eagles of Clayton Ridge notched just their third win of the season to kick off their 2025-2026 Playoff. This victory came on the road against a tough and deep Central Elkader program. In the first quarter the Eagles jumped out to a slim lead but in the second, the Warriors worked their way back to tie it moving into halftime. From there they tied in the this quarter, making it all come down to the fourth. In the last frame the Eagles just made one more basket. The Warriors had an off shooting night overall and that was really their downfall. That is something that you can't always control as a player or coach. Sometimes shots just don't fall and that was the story in the end of this one. As for the Eagles, they are only going to get better with time, just like a lot of other programs in this 1A Class. Their main 3/4 producers are Freshman this year so there is a lot to look forward too.

Key Players: Adelyn Helle (16 Pts, 10 Rebs), Emery Ostrander (9 Pts, 12 Rebs)

Region #5 - Moravia (53) at Melcher-Dallas (49)

The final result of this game looks a lot closer than it actually was as Moravia halted a furious run by Melcher-Dallas in the fourth quarter. The contest started out tied after one quarter of play but the Mohawks followed that with a 33-14 run of their own throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters putting the game pretty much out of reach. The Saints didn't give up though. They went on a huge run of their own to end the game (23-8), ultimately closing it to a 4 point gap before the last buzzer sounded. Both programs showed a lot of heart here. They never gave up and they left it all out on the floor. Something you have to respect.
