Being a Freshman can be intimidating when you are thrown into the fire of Varsity competition but Kinzley Farley of Wapsie Valley High School has done a good job of adjusting accordingly. Farley plays the PG spot but she mainly scores as a catch and shoot weapon from the midrange on the outside wings or corner positions. She does have the natural insticts of passing ahead and leading those around her for nifty assists in the open court while also being someone that can initiate the offense within the half or full courts. Defensively, she sticks to her matchup and takes calculated risks that usually turn out for the best for her squad in generality. I'm excited to see Farley on the road this Spring against some tougher competition. That will give us a better understanding where she stacks up at within this 2029 Class within the state.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson ended their regular season with two very impressive wins against ranked schools near by in Iowa City - City High and Cedar Rapids - Prairie. During both of these W's, [player_tooltip player_id='832201' first='Elysionna' last='Westerfield'] was a constant on the offensive end. She scored from all three levels, from the inside-to-out and each one of those points was vital as they only won by 4 in each battle. Don't be mistaken though. Westerfield has been a light for this team all season long. She is averaging 14.4 PPG on 37% shooting from the floor and they will continue to look for her the closer their team gets to a State appearance. She is their most versatile player accounting for skill, length, and guard-like ability. Which will continue to carry her into success.

Coming into this Winter we were not exactly sure of the identity of Sioux City Easy High School but 2028 Kennedy Reynolds has quickly filled that void throughout the season as their top dawg and main producer. Reynolds is a CG, standing around 5'9, who makes plays at a steady rate. She is the team's top PPG and RPG leader, demonstrating that she is willing to get her hands dirty in any given situation. Sioux City East has won most of their games as of late. Whenever they have had any close battles, Reynolds is the individual that they look to when they need to pull away. That tells us all we need to know. Now we get to see how far they can take things over the next few weeks during the Playoffs.

Time and time again we have seen Pershing hit big three point shots throughout a contest this season off the catch. She has a unique shot form but it goes in a lot. If you are an opposing coach, you have to scout prior and mark down that you cannot help off of her when someone else is driving towards the bucket. Too many teams are making that mistake and Pershing is making them pay. If Mount Vernon wants to make a run over the next 2-3 weeks into DSM, it's going to take production out of their role players. Hoopers like Pershing. They will have a major hand in their overall success when it comes down to it.

The Missouri Valley Lady Reds are being led in PPG, RPG, & APG by the same player, Junior Guard - Mackenzie Parrot. Parrot has been option #1 this entire season up until this point on both sides of the ball and I don't think we will see that change anytime soon as they make their way through the 2A Playoffs. Technically the Lady Reds last game was considered an upset according to the seeding numbers but it didn't feel that way so hopefully they can build off of that momentum.
