Balanced Scoring Powers Braintree Past Milton on Senior Night

I got to watch the Milton High vs. Braintree game last night. Braintree won on their senior night, 57–34. After a low-scoring, close halftime score, Braintree had a night of balanced scoring to secure the win after Milton's offense slowed down in the second half. There was a lot of talent to talk about. Here are a few I want to highlight:    Victoria was very solid for Milton. She led the team with 12 points and drew double- and triple-teams by the end of the game. In the post, she finished with a drop step where she was able to score or get fouled. She also spun to the middle and finished. She's active and a consistent target in the post. During one possession, she had a give-and-go, passing the ball and diving into the post to score. Victoria was a steady force for Milton, carried the team offensively, and was a strong presence defensively as well.     Eva brought energy to Braintree and does a little bit of everything. She was great at cutting and slashing to the hoop and was able to get to the free-throw line. She showed her range by knocking down a couple of three-pointers. On defense, she was active, with great awareness, and generated steals from the passing lanes.     Kate came into the game and made her presence known. Braintree's leading scorer did a number of things. She crashed the boards for a putback, put pressure on the defense by driving to the hoop, and hit a pull-up where she either got fouled or kicked it out to find an open teammate. On defense, she showed good instincts, with stops that included steals and a blocked shot.     Francesca was fun to watch on both ends. She is a great defender that generated multiple steals, including one after fronting the post. Her defense created transition points and more offensive opportunities for her team. On offense, she showed the ability to score in the paint with floaters, layups, and fakes. She uses her body well and reads the defense to finish in a variety of ways around the basket.     Sophie is a point guard who is a strong defender. She played good perimeter defense and made sure opposing guards felt her presence. On one play, she was able to get a block. She brings the ball up for Milton, sets the pace, and is able to drive strong to the hoop and draw fouls.     Caitlin had a solid performance. The senior showed good shot selection and played aggressively without forcing shots. She had a strong middle drive for a layup and also displayed a reliable three-point shot, including a three-pointer at the buzzer.     Avery is a sharp shooter. She is always ready to shoot and has good form and follow-through. She knocked down three three-pointers and finished the game with nine points.     Gabi was solid in the post. She had strong mid-post moves to the hoop and consistently turned and faced up to score or kick the ball out. She also showed the ability to finish strong on the drive in transition. She crashes the boards on both ends and works hard for rebounds.
