The end of the regular season is rapidly approaching so I am taking the next few articles to recognize some of the awesome milestones that have been achieved, this season, before we get into covering tournament play.

The Junior, a starter for Appleton East, since her first freshman game, recently went over the 1,000 point mark in a victory, at Oshkosh North, on February 3rd. For the season, Sweeney has 285 points (13.6 ppg), is shooting 36% from three and 84% from the free-throw line in leading the Patriots to a 19-3 record and a #2 seed in Sectional 2.

[player_tooltip player_id='764914' first='Finley' last='Morgan']-Laconia

The 5-9 Junior is also another new member to the 1,000 point club. Morgan eclipsed the 1,000 point mark January 20th, at Mayville, and has scored 446 points good for a 20.3 ppg average. Having lost in last season's semi-final game, to eventual champion Oostburg, the Spartans are going to continue to need her improved scoring and leadership to make a return trip to the Resch Center.

[player_tooltip player_id='1228861' first='Amirah' last='Taylor']-Milwaukee Golda Meir

1,000 points is a historic milestone however, for the 5-10 senior, she recently etched her name, in school history pulling down her 1,000 rebound over winter break. Last season, the two-time All-Conference performer, had games of 33, 28 (twice), 26, and 24 rebounds and never had a game lower than 12 on her way to a 20.2 average. This season, with the focus on keeping her off the boards, she has still managed to average 15.5 per game including 78 in her last four games (19.5 per game) for the 13-8 Owls.

[player_tooltip player_id='533062' first='Tay' last='Maass']-Appleton North

Probably the most recent member, of the 1,000 point club, is the 5-11 Maass who scored her 1,000 point early in last night's 46-43 loss to Appleton East. For the season Maass has scored 240 points (11.4 ppg), is shooting 54% from the floor, and has the much improved Lightning looking like a team that no one would want to play in the tournament.
