Denmark took on North Atlanta Saturday at South Forsyth in the 6-AAAAAA girls region tournament. The bloodlines were impressive in this game as former NFL stars Brandon Jacobs and former Falcon John Abraham had daughters on opposing teams. Both players have good size and their athleticism was obvious from the jump. The game was dominated by younger players with North Atlanta holding off the Lady Danes at the end of four quarters

Abraham's athleticism was evident as soon as the jump ball went in the air. Abraham used her quickness and dominant left hand to get past the defense time and time again and get shots up at the basket. Abraham's ability to spring in the air and finish over the defense was impressive. Ayumi is a powerful kid with a strong base. She was the primary ball handler and leading scorer for North Atlanta. Abraham did a nice job leading her younger teammates to a win in a close, competitive game. She finished the season averaging 16 ppg. I look forward to seeing her again.

Fullilove is another player whose athleticism stood out very early on in this game. Leilani used her length and impressive wingspan to block several shots out of bounds and with authority. She was active all game long on the boards, again using her length, quickness, and leaping ability. Offensively Fullilove looked good slashing to the basket. Defensively she was a terror for North Atlanta disrupting the Denmark offense. Fullilove is averaging just under 10 points and almost around six rebounds and steals per game. She has a very bright future with a lot to like about her game.

Jadyn and Denmark's season came to an end and for the very talented sophomore it was another night where the opposing defense did everything they could to slow her down scoring the ball. North Atlanta mixed up defenders on Shepard all game long and there mission was clear deny, deny, deny, her the ball. Shepard must have run a half marathon coming off down screens and running the baseline trying to shake off the defense. Shepard is an elite shooter so when she did create space and opportunities she made several shots and looked good doing it. Expect a big Spring and Summer for Shepard where she will play off the ball and have more scoring opportunities.

LaMark made an impact on this game in every facet. Defensively she used her wingspan and quickness to jump in the passing lanes and get steals. LaMark also played very good on-ball defense where she pestered ball handlers and forced turnovers throughout the game. Offensively, Harmony shot the ball well from deep hitting multiple threes. She attacked the basket off the bounce and on the break and showed a lot of skill finishing in traffic. LaMark is a player who is going to continue to get better. She played with a lot confidence as a freshman and will be a very good backcourt mate for Shepard the next couple years.

Jacobs had a strong post presence for the Lady Danes all game long. Jacobs used that strength and excellent footwork to attack the North Atlanta defense repeatedly in the game.Jacobs handles the ball well for her size and was able to blow by her defender off the dribble several times where she did an excellent job drawing fouls. Jacobs competed hard and you could tell the season ending lost hurt as she came off the court after her fifth foul with tears rolling down her face. This was the first time I have seen Jacobs, but it will not be the last. The sophomore has the potential to be a very solid college prospect in the next couple years.
