Gems Who Should Be Considered For Miss Tennessee

This season has been crazy from many different standpoints. What I love about basketball is that if someone sets their mind to it and puts in the work, their talent will grow. Once one takes what they have practiced and it translates onto the court during games, it's truly a sight to see, as then you never know what will transpire.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Earlier this week, coaches were asked to promote girls for the Miss Tennessee nomination. You'll need to do your own research on the actual statistics, as they aren't always readily available. Many of you have seen posts from coaches, marketing departments, players themselves, promoting kids (or themselves) for this prestigious award. Rightly so, there are players with strong numbers for this nomination. One thing I wish they would factor in is the caliber of the body of work a kid is playing against. That conversation is for another time.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I reviewed and identified some key players who should be mentioned, but may not be. These young women have the stats, are on winning teams, and are truly making an impact where they are. Though this award is given to the individuals who excel in the regular season, if the postseason were included, it might be a different story.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are my sleepers for the Miss Tennessee award. They have risen to the top of their district, playing against some top-tier talent along the way. Playing in the high school SEC of basketball, this team has competed on both ends of the floor, and Ms. Jamison has been at the forefront. From dropping dimes with her quick one-hand passes, lighting it up from the arc, and getting downhill, her ability to captain this squad is crazy good. One thing people sleep on is her defensive ability. She prides herself on shutting down opponents. She is about to eclipse 500 career assists and will go down as one of the most decorated players from the Ensworth program. Averaging 23 points a game, 4 steals per contest, and contributing on the boards, she has risen through the ranks and made a name for herself. Super tough individual who competes on both ends of the floor. Her squad won the state last season. With her on the floor, they will be looking to run it back again (not just this year but for many years to come). She is a solid contributor on the boards, competes on the defensive end, and she just does whatever is necessary to help her team win. She is a Tennessee Southern signee who is a valuable asset to the Cascade program. She is a hard-working kid who is a game-changer. A physical player who has a bag full of moves that enable her to put the ball in the net. Has a nice mid-range game to complement her ability to strike fear in opponents down low. Defensively, she is big time menace on the boards. Anything in the painted area, she owns. She is one of the reasons why her team is sitting No.1 in the state. Keep tabs on this super sophomore.
