What Stood Out

Kennewick set the tone immediately. The Lions jumped out to an 18–11 first quarter lead and extended it with a dominant 21–5 second quarter. That 39–16 halftime margin essentially put the game out of reach. Kennewick shot 48 percent from the field and converted 15 free throws, while Shadle finished at 26 percent overall despite hitting 10 threes. Turnovers were another major separator. Shadle committed 33 turnovers compared to Kennewick's 17. Those extra possessions translated into efficient scoring chances for the Lions. Even though Shadle shot 43 percent from three, the volume of empty possessions made it difficult to sustain any run. Kennewick's offensive balance also stood out. Multiple players reached double figures, and their ability to score inside and from the perimeter kept Shadle from settling defensively.

Perry led all scorers with 25 points on 7 of 11 shooting and a perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line. She was aggressive attacking the rim and poised at the stripe. In a game where tempo favored Kennewick, she consistently capitalized on scoring opportunities and helped widen the second quarter gap.

Fager finished with six points, hitting two threes, and remained aggressive even under defensive pressure. While shots were contested and possessions were limited, she continued attacking and trying to create momentum swings for the Highlanders.

Kennewick's efficiency and depth proved decisive. They shot nearly twice as efficiently from the field and took better care of the basketball. Shadle's perimeter shooting kept them within reach early, but the turnover margin and second quarter run were too significant to overcome. In postseason environments, possession control often dictates the outcome, and Kennewick owned that category from start to finish.
