Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1223907' first='Tenley' last='Bozeman'] led the Bowmen with a double-double, scoring a game-high 21 points with 10 rebounds. The 6-foot-2 Colorado School of Mines commit stepped outside to knock down three triples and extend Sherwood's lead to 16 points in the second quarter, mounting a double-digit lead that the Bowmen sustained to the end.

“Tenley is on a two-week stretch where she is playing the best basketball of her career and showing the state she's the real deal. Her effort on the boards is what impresses me most,” said Sherwood head coach Matt Sanders.

The pivotal victory puts the Bowmen (19-3, 9-0) tied for most wins in a single season in program history with three league games remaining on the schedule.

“It's the beginning of a new era for Sherwood girls basketball and a testament to the time we have put in the last three years,” said Coach Sanders. “The girls have competed every day in practice and bought into our philosophy.”

The game started with a defensive battle, and the opening frame ended with Sherwood ahead 10-4.

Century's 6-foot-5 center [player_tooltip player_id='832597' first='Kiara' last='Green'], who recently committed to Stanford, anchored the Jaguars' zone defense and protected the paint, forcing Sherwood to the perimeter.

Freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1208220' first='Zoe' last='Sanders'] opened scoring nearly halfway through the first quarter, netting a pull-up three-pointer on the left wing. The point guard finished the game with 14 points and 3 assists.

“Zoe's ability to control the pace of the game as a ninth grader is remarkable,” said Coach Sanders about his daughter. “When we needed a big play or a bucket, she delivered every time. She also took on the tough task of full-court pressing senior [player_tooltip player_id='599574' first='Mia' last='Brownson'].”

Sanders held Brownson, a returning first-team all-league player, to 6 points.

Five-foot-10 freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1264956' first='Audrey' last='Poulivaati'] was tasked with defending Green in the post. She used her strong frame and athleticism to battle inside. Bozeman was in the area to protect the rim. The two Bowmen held Green to one offensive rebound all game.

With under 3 minutes left in the first frame, Green ran the court and scored a fastbreak layup to open scoring for the Jaguars. On the next play down, she posted up in the middle of the paint, turned, and finished a fadeaway jumper. Green scored all 4 of the Jaguars' first-quarter points and ended the night with 14.

Sherwood extended its lead to 16 points in the second period. Bozeman scored 11 of the Bowmen's 13 second-quarter points, knocking down three three-pointers and beating her defender inside with a step-through. Century was held to single-digit scoring in the first half and trailed 23-9 at the break.

Green, Brownson, and freshman [player_tooltip player_id='1249168' first='Nahla' last='Humphries'] found some offense out of the break, combined for 15 points, and more than doubled Century's score in the third quarter. Humphries finishes the game with 14 points and 4 rebounds.

But the Jaguars weren't able to stop Sherwood from scoring inside or out. The Bowmen won the frame 16-15 and went into the fourth quarter with a 39-24 lead.

Sherwood extended its lead to a game-high 18 points early in the final frame. Green and Humphries continued to find buckets, combining for 12 of the Jaguars' 16 fourth-quarter points. But Sanders and three-point sharpshooter [player_tooltip player_id='1311144' first='Natalie' last='Romig'] hit 2 three-pointers apiece to combine for 14 of the Bowmen's 16 fourth-quarter points.

The Bowmen also clinch a playoff spot with one more win. Said Coach Sanders about Sherwood's mindset going into the last stretch of regular season play:

"We're grateful for what we have accomplished, and we're staying focused and disciplined in our practices and games. This group flat-out gets after it and pushes each other every day. It's amazing. They're a special group."
