Region 2-A: Great Falls vs. Lewisville

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>There are three teams in Region 2-A that have won at least 10 games this season. Two of them did battle on Thursday night in their regular season finales.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Those two teams were Great Falls and Lewisville. Both teams have had greatly improved seasons over their 2024-25 campaigns. As play commenced on Thursday, the Red Devils had improved from nine wins to 17 victories – along with winning 11 of its 13 region matchups.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lions also put together a double-digit winning season following only being victorious on seven occasions in 2024-25. The earlier contest between these two teams occurred in mid-January with Lewisville claiming a 48-45 victory.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Also, that third team in the region with at least 10 victories was defending 1A Upper State champion Lee Central.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand for Thursday's marquee region contest. She has keyed Great Falls' rise to recent prominence and that continued in a hard-fought 38-35 Red Devils victory over Lewisville where she tallied a game-high 15 points. Beatty has plenty of speed and quickness whenever she has the ball in her hands and brings a fearless, tenacious attitude with her to the court. With 13 points, she ensured that Great Falls would finish the regular season with a win over the Lions, an 18-3 overall record and a region mark of 12-2. Williams can help her team get in the win column every bit as much on defense as she can on offense as she is one of the leaders on this year's Red Devils team in steals. She also thrives as a transition playmaker and does not shy away from contact that can place her at the free throw line. Lewisville connected on five 3-pointers for the game – Kennedy was responsible for three of those five from distance. Six of her 11 points were placed on the scoreboard in the second half. Kennedy also maintains activity even when the ball is not in her hands and also helps out her team's offensive efforts as a screen setter. She is one of four seniors that is part of Lewisville 2026 graduating class. Culp concluded her Thursday evening with a seven-point performance. What was more impressive than her scoring production was what the 2030 was able to get done on defense. There was many a Great Falls possession where she was a threat to collect a steal and go the other way with the rock. When she does have the ball in her hands, she understands when the right times are to attack and when the right times are to distribute and put her teammates in the right spots to make the right plays.
