Kenwood is stacked with talent and a favorite again to win 4A, and one of the main reasons is Henigan. There is not a tougher leader in the state. Kenwood plays with a sort of organized chaos, and she leads that chaos while keeping everything together. A tough on ball defender who gets strips, deflections, and steals. She claps for teammates when they make plays and puts them in position to succeed without hunting her own shots. A true leader who sacrifices for the team. She is the emotional engine that keeps Kenwood moving.

Bigger than you think, Schlichtman stood out as a glue player. She rebounded well, hit open shots, and was efficient with her dribbles. Always in the right place defensively. Whitney Young has quick guards and an elite inside presence, and she gave them strong minutes in a big win. Players like her often decide close games without getting much recognition.

Before even getting into offense, I was impressed with how she battled one of the state's best players defensively and helped hold her below her average. On offense her three point shooting opened lanes for teammates, and when covered she moved the ball to collapse the defense. She embraces tough assignments and does not shy away from big moments.

Both of Kenwood's freshman centers were impressive. Not big numbers this game, but she played with IQ beyond her years. Moved the ball, took good shots, and showed a nice stroke. Very physical for her age with soft hands and strong fundamentals. Her game already looks built for the next level.

A different skill set than her teammate. A strong rebounder, defender, and athlete. She worked hard all game to give her team extra possessions and clog the lane. As her shooting touch improves, she will continue rising among the best bigs in the state. Her effort alone changes the energy of the game.
