Weekly Honor Roll: Worsley Soars

The final week of the regular season for Class 6A and 5A delivered plenty of drama. We witnessed Green Mountain's thrilling comeback over a tough Standley Lake squad to claim the Jeffco League Title. Meanwhile, Arapahoe's impressive win over Cherokee Trail in their league tournament solidify the Warrior's status as a title contender. Let's relive some of the week's standout performances from February 16th to 22nd.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shout-outs</h2>   [player_tooltip player_id='471050' first='Kennedy' last='Spellman'] soared past the 2,000 career point milestone, showcasing her scoring prowess. Not to be outdone, her younger sister [player_tooltip player_id='735192' first='Kiarra' last='Spellman'] also reached a major milestone, eclipsing 1,000 career points. Hats off to the Spellman sisters!   Windsor's Paityn Deselms left-handed layup sealed a thrilling comeback against Rocky Mountain. With 4 seconds left, Deselms ran off a screen and raced down the court to catch [player_tooltip player_id='793089' first='Gracie' last='Worsley']'s full-court pass for the game-winning layup.   With 36 seconds remaining, Pueblo Central's Alliana Martinez intercepted a pass, and drew the foul. She calmly sank the decisive free throw to clinch victory over Pueblo Centennial.   Bailey Koning and-1 layup with 27 seconds left lifted Resurrection Christian over Colorado Academy on Wednesday night. She received a lob pass and finished through contact against a taller defender. Great finish to a back-and-forth game.     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Player of the Week</h2>    In the final minute against Rocky Mountain, Worsley owned the offensive glass, hauling in three vital rebounds. She powered home a putback to tie the game with 12 seconds left. Moments later, she fired a perfect full-court assist to Paityn Deselms for the game-winner with just 4 seconds remaining. Worsley kept her momentum rolling versus Loveland, dominating the boards again and pouring in an efficient 18 points. Her relentless rebounding and creative finishes at the rim have elevated her game. Worsley has been a driving force behind Windsor's success this season.   Averages for the week:   21.0 PPG, 12.5 REB, 4.0 Assists and 2.0 Steals      <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Outstanding Performances</h2>    The junior guard delivered a standout performance against Standley Lake, pouring in 21 points on efficient shooting. She opened with a slick spin move for a left-handed layup. Fuessel then ignited the team with two first-quarter threes from the right wing. With the Gators locked in on [player_tooltip player_id='495915' first='Peyton' last='Jones'], Fuessel seized the moment and showed she could provide the offensive spark. Her energy created extra chances for Valor, including a hustle play to save the ball and set up a teammate's layup. Fuessel came up clutch in the fourth quarter again. She scored a layup to push the lead back to eight with under a minute to play. A fantastic game for Fuessel.     Drake's breakout season rolled on with another stellar showing. She poured in 23 points on a sizzling 8-for-10 shooting night. Drake was red-hot from beyond the arc, sinking 5 of 6 three-pointers. Her fearless confidence shone through as she stepped up for big shots. On defense, Drake was everywhere, grabbing 7 rebounds and tallying 3 steals. Another outstanding performance.     Evans's strong performance lifted Green Mountain to its second straight Jeffco League title. She started the night out with a nice baseline drive for an easy layup. Evans kept Green Mountain close throughout the game with key buckets, including splashing back-to-back threes from the right corner. She added a driving layup against Standley Lake's aggressive hand-checking defense in the 4th quarter. She was active on the boards with 8 rebounds. Evans used her size and athleticism to force turnovers, collecting 4 steals. It was an outstanding night for the junior forward.     Weiss's 27-point explosion against Silver Creek carried the short-handed Monarch Coyotes to a convincing win. From the opening tip, she attacked aggressively, sparking the full-court press and swiping three steals. Her lightning-quick release netted four three-pointers. Weiss' leadership was evident as she orchestrated the offense. A brilliant night for the standout sophomore.     Jones' 31-point outburst gave Valor a hard-fought victory over highly ranked Arapahoe. She aggressively attacked the rim, dazzling with slick handles and earning trip after trip to the free-throw line. Her knack for creating her own shot is a rare weapon and the heartbeat of Valor's offense. With quick hands, she also swiped three steals. Another stellar showing from the standout senior.
