<p>Prep Hoops Missouri was in North County St. Louis to take in a nonconference game between Whitfield and host Hazelwood Central.</p>

<p>The two teams were evenly matched and that was how the game played out for much of the evening. The Hawks got out to a quick start and led 19-8 at the end of the first quarter. Whitfield came back with a big 20-point second quarter to tie the game at halftime 28-28.</p>

<p>The game remained close for the rest of the way with Whitfield coming away with a 51-48 victory over the Hawks on their Senior Night.</p>

<p>The 5'6" 2029 point guard scored a team-high 18 points while also playing some tenacious defense on the perimeter. She plays with great strength and toughness at both ends of the court. When a big basket was needed, she was able to deliver it. She got to the basket on the drive and she also dropped some nice dimes with her court vision. She had a huge second quarter, which sparked Whitfield back from its early double-digit deficit. She is one of the state's top 2029 guards and she showed it on Thursday night.</p>

<p>The talented 5'7" 2026 guard scored 19 points to lead all scorers in the game. She is a smooth offensive player who can create her shot with slick handles and a variety of escape moves. She showed an excellent hesi move that froze a defender on the way into the lane. She also knocked down a open 3-pointer from the corner. She also has quick hands to play ball hawking defense.</p>

<p>A 5'9" 2029 guard who scored 11 points and showcased some very impressive poise and athleticism on the drive. She has some tremendous speed in the open court as she accelerated in the open court for a basket. She was tough on the attack and she used the two-foot jump stop to score in traffic. She was a bright future as the Hawks will build around her with standout teammate [player_tooltip player_id='409899' first='Camirah' last='Foster'] graduating.</p>

<p>The 5'4" 2029 point guard scored nine points and played a strong floor game. She hit a big 3-pointer when the Warriors trailed 44-38 with about three minutes to play. She is quick and she really does a nice job at getting into the lane and drawing defenders. </p>

<p>A 5'7" 2029 forward who is another part of the Warriors' talented freshman class. She scored six points. She is a good athlete who did a nice job on the offensive boards. She got two of her buckets on putbacks as she established good position and displayed a quick jump inside to grab offensive boards.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='1279150' first='Ava' last='Nicastro'] (Whitfield): The 6'0" forward scored six points off the bench and showed a strong presence in the lane. She got a couple of buckets off of offensive rebounds. She did a good job of keeping the ball high on the catch.</p>

<p>[player_tooltip player_id='1279125' first='Rylii' last='Franklin'] (Whitfield): The 5'6" guard hit one of the biggest shots of the game when she banked in a 3-pointer in the closing minutes to cut a five-point lead to two and keep the Warriors in contention. She is a nice two-way player with good athleticism.</p>
