Battle of the Bishops: Standouts from the 4A Championship

Under the bright lights of the Class 4A state championship, two proud programs met in a fitting showdown as Bishop Kenny High School and Bishop Moore Catholic High School battled for the state crown. The matchup lived up to expectations, featuring momentum swings, clutch perimeter shooting, and physical play in the paint as both teams fought to seize control on the biggest stage of the season. While one team ultimately walked away with the championship trophy, there were a whole lot of "silent moments of meditation" in the stands. The game showcased outstanding performances on both sides of the floor. From a fearless freshman who controlled the pace and tempo to veteran leadership and dominant interior play, several players rose to the moment and left their mark on the title game. This was a repeat all game long. Donovan got into the paint and to the rim almost at will - showing an ability to get anywhere on the court she wanted to. The freshman scored 17 points, and when she wasn't scoring, she was kicking to her shooters on the perimeter for clutch threes that shifted momentum. Donovan placed immense pressure on the defense and drawing 7 fouls on opposing guards. Her combination of scoring, playmaking, and relentless attacking made her the clear MVP of the game - and a message for the State - she is only a Freshman! The freshman looked smooth and confident beyond her years, playing through physical defense, coming off of screens, and knocking down shots. Trent displays a composed demeanor well beyond her years and finished with 13 points, 5-11 FG, and 3-7 from three-point land. She is clearly one of the top freshmen in the State. The guard showed strong awareness in the half-court offense, finding space along the perimeter and stepping into open shots with confidence. Wolsonovich finished with 12 points and also contributed on the glass, demonstrating solid effort and positioning for a guard.
