The VHSL Class 5 and Class 6 state championship games tip off Thursday, March 12th at the VCU Siegel Center in Richmond, bringing together some of Virginia's most impactful players on the biggest stage of the season. In Class 6, Osbourn Park returns as the 2025 state champion and faces Manchester in a rematch of last year's title game. In Class 5, reigning champion Princess Anne takes on Menchville as both teams look to close strong postseason runs. From proven scorers and high-level prospects to defensive anchors and versatile contributors, several players enter the finals coming off standout performances in regional and state tournament play.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class 6 State Championship: Osbourn Park vs. Manchester, 12:30pm</h2>   Osbourn Park (Region 6B Champion)    Rainey enters the state final as Osbourn Park's all-time leading scorer after a 25-point performance in the state quarterfinals pushed her past 1,440 career points. In the Yellow Jackets' 65-44 state semifinal win over Oakton, she impacted the game in multiple ways, attacking the paint for scores, creating opportunities for teammates, and applying defensive pressure that helped generate extra possessions. The Region 6B Player of the Year and three-time Cedar Run District Player of the Year is a dynamic three-level scorer who can rise into pull-ups, attack downhill, and finish through contact. Beyond scoring, her rebounding, defensive activity, and ability to facilitate in transition make her the engine behind Osbourn Park's offense.     West continues to be a momentum player for Osbourn Park, thriving in the in-between spaces of the game and helping keep the offense flowing. In the Yellow Jackets' 65-44 state semifinal win over Oakton, she handled the ball confidently, attacked the basket off the dribble, and stayed active within the offense by moving well without the ball and finding space. A 1st Team All-Region selection, West consistently applies pressure on defense with purposeful drives and quick decisions in transition. Defensively, her active hands and willingness to rebound despite size mismatches help spark transition opportunities for Osbourn Park.     Salinas brings size, versatility, and two-way impact to Osbourn Park's perimeter. In the Yellow Jackets' 65-44 state semifinal win over Oakton, she attacked the defense with aggressive baseline drives, finished through traffic, and earned trips to the free-throw line. The 5'11" guard also made her presence felt defensively with a well-timed block and active help in double-teams and traps. Offensively, she continues to show her ability to facilitate, including delivering a sharp entry pass from the corner that led to an assist.     Jones provides reliable backcourt minutes with composure, communication, and disciplined defensive pressure. In Osbourn Park's 65-44 state semifinal win over Oakton, she attacked the lane for a score, handled pressure late in the game, and helped control the tempo while protecting possessions. The sophomore sees the floor well and plays as a steady facilitator, collapsing the defense and delivering entry passes or kick-outs to open teammates. Manchester (Region 6A Champion)    Smith, the Region 6A Player of the Year, is one of the top prospects in Virginia's 2027 class and a driving force behind Manchester's 26-1 season. In the Lancers' 57-46 state semifinal win over West Potomac, she scored 14 points while continuing to impact the game with her length, athleticism, and defensive activity. Smith averages 16.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while creating havoc defensively with 3.7 steals per game, She excels at jumping passing lanes and turning defense into transition offense, where she can push the pace and finish at the rim.     Weaver brings experience and leadership as Manchester returns to the state championship stage for the fourth straight year. In the Lancers' 57-46 state semifinal win over West Potomac, she finished with 15 points while continuing to provide consistent offensive production. Averaging 10.4 points and 3.6 assists per game, Weaver keeps the offense organized while stretching defenses with confident perimeter shooting. She handles the ball well in transition and attacks the rim with physicality, often finishing through contact or drawing fouls.     Edwards provides quickness, defensive pressure, and scoring to Manchester's guard rotation. In the Lancers' 57-46 state semifinal win over West Potomac, she led the team with 17 points while continuing to impact the game on both ends. Edwards averages 14.0 points per game and brings constant defensive energy, using her speed to pressure ball handlers and jump passing lanes. Offensively, she runs the floor hard, can knock down perimeter shots, and attacks the lane with confidence when defenses overplay.     Royal gives Manchester a physical interior presence and valuable rebounding on both ends of the floor. In the Lancers' 57-46 state semifinal win over West Potomac, she added 9 points while continuing to anchor the paint. The 6'1" forward averages 5.0 rebounds per game and uses her size to establish strong post position and finish efficiently around the basket. Defensively, Royal's positioning and length make it difficult for opponents to score inside.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Class 5 State Championship: Princess Anne vs. Menchville, 6pm</h2>   Princess Anne (Region 5A Champion)    Ojo continues to lead Princess Anne's undefeated season will her versatile two-way impact. In the Cavaliers' 57-43 state semifinal win over Fleming, she ran the floor well in transition, created opportunities for teammates with smart passes, and finished effectively around the rim. In the state quarterfinal win over King's Fork, Ojo delivered a dominant all-around performance with 29 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 steals, and 5 blocks. The dynamic forward scores at all three levels while using her length, strength, and instincts to disrupt opponents defensively.     Olds brings toughness and relentless energy to the Cavaliers' lineup. In the 57-43 semifinal win over Fleming, she was aggressive on the glass, securing rebounds and converting second-chance opportunities while drawing contact around the rim. In the state quarterfinal against King's Fork, Olds finished with 13 points and 9 rebounds, nearly scoring a double-double. Her physical style of play, strong finishes in the paint, and ability to battle through traffic consistently provide valuable possessions for Princess Anne.     Rickenbacker, and East Carolina commit, continues to provide leadership and versatility as Princess Anne pursues another state title. In the Cavaliers' 57-43 state semifinal win over Fleming, she found space inside for scoring opportunities and created offense by delivering entry passes to teammates in the paint. In the state quarterfinal win over King's Fork, Rickenbacker recorded 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Her ability to attack off the wing, handle the ball in transition, and facilitate for teammates makes her a valuable all-around contributor.    Menchville (Region 5B Champion)    Leach, the Region 5B and District Player of the Year, continues to lead Menchville whith confidence and playmaking ability. In the Monarchs' 88-37 state semifinal win over Glen Allen, she finished with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 10 steals. In the stat quarterfinal against Deep Creek, Leach recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while adding 4 assists. The James Madison commit surpassed 2,000 career points this postseason and remains a dynamic scorer with deep shooting range who can also facilitate for teammates.     Henson, a 1st Team All-Region selection, anchors Menchville's interior with size and defensive presence. In the 88-37 state semifinal win over Glen Allen, she recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 blocks. In the state quarterfinal against Deep Creek, Henson added 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks. The 6'2" post continues to alter shots and control the paint, highlighted earlier in the postseason by a triple-double performance with 12 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 blocks in the regional semifinals.     Reid, a 1st Team All-Region selection, provides energy and playmaking in Menchville's backcourt. In the state quarterfinal win over Deep Creek, she contributed 12 points to help power the offense. She also posted 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists in the regional championship. Reid complements [player_tooltip player_id='383833' first='Maddie' last='Leach'] with scoring balance, quick decision-making, and the ability to push the pace in transition.     Holder, a 2nd Team All-Region selection, brings physicality and rebounding to Menchville's frontcourt. In the 88-37 state semifinal win over Glen Allen, she added 12 points and 5 rebounds. In the state quarterfinal against Deep Creek, Holder recorded a 17-point, 16-rebound double-double while adding 2 steals and a block.
