Introducing PGH Florida’s Freshman of the Year: Pippi Boyer
Pippi Boyer's arrival on the high school scene felt less like a debut and more like a statement. After a standout freshman campaign, she has officially been named the PGH Florida Freshman of the Year, an honor backed not only by her production on the court but also by overwhelming community support, earning over 1,000 votes in the fan poll.
From day one, Pippi proved she belonged among the state's top players, regardless of class. Leading her team to a 21-6 record against a strong 16.9 strength of schedule, she played a major role in guiding her squad to the Class 3A Elite 8. Her impact was undeniable, averaging 18.4 points, 4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, numbers that reflect both her scoring ability and overall presence.
Her performance did not go unnoticed locally either, as she was named the FACA District 19 3A Player of the Year, an impressive accolade for any player, let alone a freshman.
What separates Pippi goes beyond the stat sheet. In the postseason, she elevated her game even further, nearly leading her team past the eventual state champions in a battle that showcased her poise, competitiveness, and ability to rise in big moments. Her blend of length, skill, and confidence allows her to impact the game in multiple ways, while her unselfishness and feel make her a natural playmaker.
Her Coach, Brandy Montgomery, spoke to the foundation behind Pippi's rapid rise:
“At a young age, Pippi has truly embodied the understanding of hard work and what it takes to make it to the next level. She has the same mindset and work ethic on and off the court. It's who she is, and I believe the results will continue to show. I'm excited for her future.”
That future is already taking shape. Pippi currently holds Division I offers from Robert Morris, Wake Forest, and George Mason, an early testament to her national level potential. As a member of the 2029 class, she is quickly establishing herself as one of the top prospects in the state and the country.
This spring and summer, she will continue her development on the GUAA travel circuit with FGB , where she will have even more opportunities to compete against elite competition and further solidify her status.
For now, one thing is clear. Pippi Boyer is not just the PGH Florida Freshman of the Year. She is a name that will be heard for years to come.
