IDream Realize Your Potential and Synergy both entered Sunday looking for their first win of the weekend at the highly competitive Northeast Kickoff. Something had to give. Synergy got off to a fast start and stayed close for a half, but IDream Realize Your Potential pulled away over the final 16 minutes to collect a 56-36 victory. Even though both teams found wins difficult to come by, they each have multiple talented players. Here are the ones who stood out.

The first thing that stands out about [player_tooltip player_id='1816193' first='Layla' last='Scott'] is her natural athleticism. Scott is an extremely gifted player with a high upside. She has a motor that is always running. Late in the contest, when the outcome was on the line, Scott was the catalyst for her squad. Scott is a very fundamentally sound defensive player. She drives hard to the basket and is a strong finisher. Scott is a good ball handler and has a sweet shooting touch. She is aggressive on the boards, especially at the offensive end, and creates more opportunities to add to her point total.

Javeah Stewart was an intriguing player to watch at the Northeast Kickoff. The sky is the limit for Stewart. She is 6'2" and, as a freshman, is likely still growing. Yet, she possesses a skill set well beyond her years. At first glance, you would label Stewart as a post player, but she can step outside and knock down 3-pointers with impressive range. She can dribble the ball the length of the floor and finish with authority at the other end. Stewart's length allows her to dominate the boards on both ends of the floor and protect the rim with her shot-blocking ability. She understands the nuances of the game, as witnessed by how well she passes the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1817234' first='Mya' last='Terry'] is a quick combo guard who does a lot of things well. Terry is a player who impacts winning in a variety of ways, and that was the case in this game. When the outcome was up in the air, Terry rose to the occasion. One of Terry's greatest strengths is her basket cuts. She moves very well without the ball, which creates scoring opportunities. Terry is a very good 3-point shooter and can connect on pull-up jumpers as well. Terry has a swift first step and is a consistent finisher when she drives. Her speed comes in handy when on the defensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1775913' first='Clara' last='Mueller'] caught fire in the second half, but it wasn't enough to lift her team to the win. Mueller is a left-handed jump shooter, which makes her more of a challenge to defend. Mueller is only 5'2" but has no problem with squeezing her shots off. She has a quick release and is an excellent 3-point shooter, especially from the extended elbow area. Mueller nailed four treys in the game after pouring in five in a game the day before. When defenders jumped out at her, Mueller had the instincts to use her dribbling skills to blow by them and drive to the basket. Jamesville-Dewitt has a future star in Mueller.

Speaking of Jamesville-Dewitt, [player_tooltip player_id='1775905' first='Alexus' last='Hall'] also attends the school, which is an annual contender for the Section III title. Hall was on the varsity as a freshman and showed a lot of potential this weekend. Hall is a strong power forward with a polished drop-step move and spin move to the middle. She is a solid rebounder who can score off putbacks. Hall has a nice shooting touch around the painted area. When she needs to, Hall can put the ball on the floor and muscle her way past defenders to the basket.
