The 3rd District Tournament brought energy, intensity, and big time moments from start to finish as teams left it all on the floor with everything on the line!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The semifinals saw Mayfield lock in defensively and take control, defeating Ballard Memorial 41-27. From the opening tip, Mayfield set the tone and never looked back, earning themselves a spot in a highly anticipated championship showdown against Graves County. Two teams that knew each other well, two teams that split the regular season, and one final game to decide it all!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mayfield entered the championship with a district record of 5-2, while Graves County came in at 3-2. With the regular season series tied 1-1, this matchup had all the makings of a battle… but when the lights were brightest, Mayfield rose to the moment in a BIG way!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lady Cardinals came out focused, confident, and ready to make a statement! From the jump, they controlled the pace, dominated defensively, and executed on both ends of the floor. What was expected to be a tight game quickly turned into a one-sided performance as Mayfield rolled to an impressive 53-27 victory, securing their first district championship in this century! She exploded for 33 points and was unconscious from deep, knocking down SIX three-pointers! Every time Mayfield needed a big shot, she delivered! Her ability to score at all three levels was on full display, and she took over the game with confidence and energy. This performance was the perfect example of the season she's put together, averaging 17.2 points per game while leading the team in two-pointers, three-pointers, and free throws. She has been a leader for this team all season, averaging 9.1 points per game and leading the team in both free throws and rebounding at 5.9 per contest.
