There is NOTHING like cutting down the nets on championship night! Heated rivalries, PACKED gyms, and bragging rights that carry into next season… this is Kentucky basketball at its core! The 61st District Tournament had it all, energy, intensity, emotion, and clutch moments from start to finish as teams emptied the tank with everything on the line. This is what it's all about!

The semifinals, hosted by Menifee County, wasted no time bringing the energy. The home crowd was rocking, and Menifee County fed off every bit of it. They came out locked in defensively, flying around, making plays, and setting the tone early. Fleming County battled, but the Lady Cats stayed in control and secured a 66-52 win to punch their ticket to the championship.

On the other side, Rowan County made it clear they were on a mission. They handled business against Bath County with confidence, executing on both ends and showing why they had been one of the most consistent teams in the district all season long. That set up the matchup everyone had been waiting for. Two teams that know each other. Two teams that don't back down. One championship on the line!

Menifee County came into the title game with a 5-2 district record, while Rowan County entered at 7-1. Both teams had already beaten each other once during the regular season, so there was no mystery. No surprises. Just two tough teams ready to battle for a district crown. And when the lights were brightest, it came down to who could make plays, who could handle the moment, and who wanted it just a little bit more!

From the opening tip, the championship game had the feel of something special. Every possession mattered. Every rebound was a fight. Every bucket felt huge. Rowan County came ready to compete and delivered punches throughout, but Menifee County responded every single time. As the game wore on, the Lady Cats found another gear, making key plays down the stretch and pulling away to secure a 57-44 victory and their second straight district championship! Championship mentality on full display!

She controlled the paint, created second-chance opportunities, and refused to be denied. Her performance perfectly capped off a monster season where she averaged 16.8 points and 15.2 rebounds per game while leading the team in field goal percentage. That is how you show up on championship night!

Senior [player_tooltip player_id='376815' first='Jaycee' last='Gevedon'] delivered another big-time performance with 14 points and was flawless from the free throw line. When the pressure was at its highest, she was calm, confident, and automatic. That has been the story of her entire season. Averaging 21.1 points per game and knocking down 86 three-pointers, she has been one of the most dangerous scorers around, and she showed it again on the biggest stage.
