The 64th District Tournament once again delivered the emotion, intensity, and passion that makes Kentucky the heart of high school basketball. Rivalries were renewed, the gyms were energized, and every possession felt like it could change a season. For the players, coaches, and fans, this is what it is all about! The energy was electric, the stakes were sky high, and teams left everything on the floor battling for district glory and the chance to celebrate at center court!</p>

<p>The tournament was hosted by Boyd County and the semifinal matchup wasted no time bringing the excitement! The host Boyd County Lady Lions came out locked in from the opening tip and played with relentless energy. Their defense set the tone immediately, forcing turnovers and turning them into easy points. Offensively they found a rhythm early and never looked back, rolling to an impressive 84-18 victory over Fairview! Boyd County controlled the tempo, dominated the glass, and showed exactly why they were a dangerous team heading into the championship round!</p>

<p>The 1 seed Ashland Blazer Lady Kittens, who went a perfect 4-0 in district play, earned a bye straight to the championship game. That set up the matchup everyone expected all season long as Ashland Blazer faced the Boyd County Lady Lions, who entered the tournament 2-3 in district play but riding the momentum from their semifinal win.</p>

<p>When the championship tipped off, Ashland Blazer showed exactly why they were the top seed! The Lady Kittens came in focused, composed, and determined to defend their crown. They controlled the game on both ends of the floor and ultimately pulled away for a strong 73-50 victory, securing their THIRD straight district championship! The Lady Kittens had several big time performances that powered them to another title!</p>

<p>Senior [player_tooltip player_id='724181' first='Gabby' last='Karle'] led the way with a team high 21 points, including three big shots from beyond the three point line that helped stretch the lead and ignite the crowd! Karle has been a consistent scorer all season long, averaging 14.8 points per game while also leading the team in free throws made.</p>

<p>Senior [player_tooltip player_id='494473' first='Aryanna' last='Gulley'] delivered a dominant performance in the paint, recording a huge double double with 19 points and 11 rebounds! Gulley was a force on the glass all season, averaging 11.8 points per game and a team high 8.5 rebounds per contest.</p>

<p>Junior [player_tooltip player_id='747675' first='Brookelyn' last='Duckwyler'] added another strong offensive performance with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Duckwyler has been one of the top perimeter threats for the Lady Kittens all year, averaging 13.1 points per game and leading the team in three pointers made.</p>

<p>Junior [player_tooltip player_id='913398' first='Alexis' last='Troxler'] contributed across the board with 4 points and 5 rebounds while providing strong defensive presence and hustle plays throughout the game! Troxler averaged 7.2 points per game this season and finished second on the team in rebounding with 6.2 per game.</p>

<p>Boyd County also had some big time performances during their impressive semifinal victory that helped push them into the championship game!</p>

<p>Junior [player_tooltip player_id='743739' first='Jada' last='Ray'] exploded offensively with 21 points and showcased her scoring ability throughout the game! She shot nearly 78 percent from inside the arc and constantly pressured the defense. Ray had an outstanding season overall, averaging 20.1 points per game while also leading the team with an incredible 71 three pointers made!</p>

<p>Eighth grader [player_tooltip player_id='1176089' first='Kollyn' last='Groves'] added 12 big points and showed poise well beyond her middle school age! Groves knocked down key free throws and finished the game shooting 75 percent from the line. She averaged 12.7 points per game this season and led the team in free throw percentage at an impressive 82.8 percent.</p>

<p>Junior [player_tooltip player_id='743656' first='Carley' last='Boyd'] made her presence felt on the glass, finishing with 6 points and a team high 9 rebounds! Boyd has been a consistent force all season long, averaging 8.1 points per game while also leading the team in rebounding.</p>
