We are now in post season play and what a regular season it was. After attending many games and viewing many streams I'd like to cover some of the top break out forwards in the Southern Arizona Girls Basketball scene. These will include the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes.

Kollasch remained one of my favorite players to watch this season. Her leadership, character and attributes off the court were exactly what the Lancers needed with having as young of a squad (no seniors) as they did this season. Now you add her ability to play the game at a high level every possession and you get a prospect in my opinion that makes it impossible to ignore. Her ability to impact games and make the right reads put her right at the top of the Southern Arizona 2027 class. She averaged 9.7 points, 1.7 assists, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game in a season where she earned first team all region honors. Expect a big senior year from Kollasch next season.

One of the top centers in the state helped the Salpointe Lancers get back to the post season as the number one team in the 4A Conference. Lual averaged 8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1 steal and 2.7 blocks per game this season for the Lancers. Her lengthy wingspan and height already give her a great advantage on her opponents. You add those with her ability to play through physicality, her confidence and ability to make big plays and you'll find yourself as a first team all region selection like Lual did. Her post foot work and ability to block shots and rebound are elite. Another prospect where the sky is the limit once her recruitment gains momentum.

Jordan had a great year that saw her as a key piece to a young and talented group for the Marana Tigers. Everything about Jaydas game has improved tremendously in the last year. She has developed a great handle on the ball, her footwork in the post as well as the open court is great but her defensive ability is what has made her impactful for the Tigers. Jordans season averages were 7.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Jordan has a high ceiling and the work ethic to become really good. Expect a great off-season that will she her development take leaps and a lot of recognition to come her way. Coaches will take notice of Jayda very soon.

Layla took advantage of a season that saw her get a ton of minutes for the Cougars. A physical forward who flat out hustles making plays on both ends of the court. Layla had eleven double doubles on the season that ranked her 36th in the state. On the season she had 10.5 points, 1.8 assists, 9.4 rebounds 2.7 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. One of her best games of the season was against Tucson where she had 21 points and 16 rebounds, helping the Cougars escape with a three point victory. She finished the season shooting 43 percent from the field. Layla has made herself known this season. Expect a jump in the rankings and a lot more to come for Layla O'Rourke Sloan.

The freshman was impressive in my viewings of her this season. Morales is a very confident player who can score well in the post or shooting the three ball. Strong rebounder and shot blocker in the post. Very vocal with a great read on the game. Morales will continue to develop and rise the the 2029 rankings. This season under a very limited rotation She averaged 5.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and .7 blocks per game. A very mature and disciplined player. She will be a big part of the success of the Cienega Bobcats for the next few years.

Peterson had a strong season in her role for the Catalina Foothills Falcons. She made the most of her minutes showing she can impact the game defensively and on the boards. Has really good footwork in the post and showed she has a pretty good handle on the ball. Peterson averaged 4 points, 1.6 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game in her sophomore season for the Falcons. Peterson showed a lot of growth from my first viewing of her this past summer at Section 7. Will be a strong force for the Falcons in her next couple seasons.

Elam is a very smart player. She doesn't force much and makes great reads. Very active on the floor helping create opportunities for her teammates. A physically strong player who rebounds well and makes great passes. Has a nice three ball that helps space the floor. Disciplined shot blocker. Knows her spots and takes smart shots. She was a strong piece in securing a region title for the Mustangs. Elam has the size and skill that will catch the attention of coaches this off season into the next school season.

We are now in post season play and what a regular season it was. After attending many games and viewing many streams I'd like to cover some of the top break out forwards in the Southern Arizona Girls Basketball scene. These will include the 2027, 2028 and 2029 classes.
