State Tourney Time: Day 1 Standouts

She filled up an entire stat sheet. Watkins led all scorers with 29 points. She added 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists in the win over Pocahontas County. This sophomore is one to keep your eyes on. She is playing with more confidence every time she steps on the floor. Watkins does a lot of the work that doesn't show in the stats. Bailee scored 10 points and hauled in 24 rebounds. She was unstoppable on the boards. We have stated before that Hall is a double-double machine. I love the motor that Bailee plays with. She poured in 18 points, added 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Lusk is one of the toughest athletes on the floor. She is a hard-nosed athlete that plays with a physicality that can't be taught. Kyndal is a guard that can get to the basket and draw the hard foul. She attacks downhill and changes positions exceptionally well. She did a great job controlling what she could control. Mary is a selfless athlete that will walk away as a previous state champion. Rushworth does a great job finishing around the rim. She has the ability to step out and knock down outside shots consistently. Lena finished the game with 18 points. She poured in six three-pointers. This kid can light it up quick and in a hurry from outside. Lena knows how to set the tone defensively for Gilmer County. I love her confidence in her shot and how she is ready to let it fly. Law finished with 11 points and 9 rebounds. She is a great on ball defender. I love the no-quit that Law and her teammates play with. Elsa's leadership is imperative on the floor. Lydia was 9-17 from the field. This athlete continues to be the definition of consistent and efficient. She is long, athletic, and a hard match-up on both sides of the ball. Dunlap also recorded 6 steals and 4 blocks in the win.
