2029 Friday Takeover: Young Faces Shine at ENG Invitational

The ENG Sports Invitational tipped off this weekend in Wesley Chapel with teams from across Florida coming in to compete. Friday night set the tone early with strong matchups and standout individual performances. Several players stepped up and made an impact on both ends of the floor, showing their skill, effort, and ability to produce in a competitive setting just after the first live period. Here are some of the names that stood out to open the event:    Sammy is a long, versatile prospect who impacts both ends with her length. She showed strong defensive instincts by blocking a three-point attempt and protecting the rim with another block in the paint. Offensively, she has a confident stroke and is not afraid to let it fly from deep. She knocked down a tough contested three, which highlighted her shot-making ability and her deep range. Her combination of length, defensive activity, and perimeter confidence gives her intriguing upside.     Caidyn is a combo guard who can comfortably bring the ball up the floor and initiate offense when needed. She has the ability to create her own shot and get it off against pressure as well. I liked her effort to contribute on the glass by showing a willingness to rebound and compete. She plays as a glue piece for her team and helps things stay organized and connected while also elevating the overall energy and execution on the floor for a really talented squad.     Chantel is a high-motor lefty guard who brings control and pace to the floor. She knocked down a corner three and showed confidence as a perimeter threat. She runs the show well and makes smart decisions with the ball in her hands. Chantel understands passing angles and timing, and knows when to use a bounce pass versus a chest pass to deliver the ball effectively for better opportunities for her teammates.     Stefany is a high-energy guard who sets the tone defensively with her intensity and communication. She is a pest on the ball and stays engaged possession after possession. She sits down in a defensive stance and takes real pride in getting stops. Offensively, she showed a strong step-through finish that highlighted her toughness around the rim. Her energy carries through the game and impacts both ends of the floor.     Qiana is a shifty guard who creates separation with pace and craft. She used a quick cross and shimmy into a spin move that consistently put defenders off balance. She showed a nasty pass fake that opened up a step-through finish at the rim as well. Defensively, she created a deflection by jumping a passing lane and staying active in the gap. Offensively, she knocked down a step-back three with a smooth release and solid rotation on the ball. Q does a good job getting to two feet in the paint and elevating through contact to finish plays as a strong guard.     KK is a guard who makes an impact with her feel and activity on both ends. She gets downhill with a strong dribble drive and can finish effectively, including a nice step-through move around defenders. Defensively, she reads the floor well, jumps passing lanes for steals, and anticipates by tracking her opponent's eyes. Sa'kayla keeps her eyes up in transition and looks to involve teammates while bringing the ball up the court. One of the most intriguing guard prospects in Florida's 2029 class, no doubt!
