Inside The Gym: AAU Prospects – CyFair 16U Program

Step inside the gym and one thing is clear—CyFair 16U isn't just playing… they're competing at a high level every possession. This is a group built on intensity, structure, and a commitment to getting better every time they hit the floor.   Under the leadership of Director Earl Allen, this program is built with purpose and direction. Head Coach Curtis Bason sets the tone, bringing energy, accountability, and a winning mindset every session. Alongside him, Assistant Coaches Kevin Risher and Stacey Marshall play key roles in development—making sure every athlete is pushed, coached, and prepared.   From warm-ups to live play, the energy is different. You see guards attacking downhill, wings spacing and knocking down shots, and posts battling inside—all flowing within a system that emphasizes team basketball and accountability.   What stands out most is their tempo and discipline. CyFair 16U plays fast, but controlled. They understand how to push in transition while still executing in the half court. It's not just about talent—it's about knowing how to play the game the right way.   Defensively, they bring a gritty mindset. Active hands, communication, and the willingness to guard—this is a team that takes pride in getting stops and turning defense into offense.   And development? It's happening in real time. You can see players growing—confidence building, skillsets expanding, and roles becoming clearer. That's what high-level AAU basketball is about. At 5'10” in the 2028 class, she already brings a physical presence on the wing, allowing her to impact the game on both ends of the floor.   Offensively, Conway shows promise as a developing perimeter scorer. She has the ability to stretch the floor with her shooting while also attacking off the bounce when lanes open. Her length helps her finish through contact and over smaller defenders, and she flashes the ability to create her own shot in space. As she continues to tighten her handle and improve shot consistency, her scoring ceiling rises significantly.   Defensively, Conway's length and mobility stand out. She has the tools to guard multiple positions, contest shots effectively, and disrupt passing lanes. When engaged, she can be a difference-maker on that end with her activity and effort. Offensively, Jackson is a downhill threat who thrives attacking the basket. Her stride length and explosiveness allow her to cover ground quickly, making her dangerous in transition and when driving out of space. She shows flashes of being a multi-level scorer, with the ability to stretch the floor and create mismatches against smaller guards. As her handle tightens and her shot becomes more consistent, her offensive ceiling becomes extremely high.   Defensively, Jackson's tools are what stand out most. Her size, wingspan, and mobility give her the ability to guard multiple positions—from guards to wings—and disrupt passing lanes. She has the potential to be a high-impact defender at a high level, especially when locked in with effort and discipline. She shows the ability to get downhill, absorb contact, and finish through traffic. Her game is built on effort and aggressiveness, and she can create opportunities by putting pressure on the defense. As she continues to develop her perimeter consistency and shot selection, she becomes even more dangerous as a scoring threat.   Weaver's defensive motor stands out. She competes, stays active, and doesn't shy away from physical play. She has the ability to disrupt opposing guards, apply ball pressure, and contribute with rebounds from the guard position. Her toughness and willingness to do the gritty work make her valuable in winning situations. As her confidence grows as a scorer, she becomes more difficult to contain.   Playmaking / IQ: This is where she separates. Parker processes the game well, makes the right reads, and keeps teammates involved. She understands pace—when to slow it down, when to push. That kind of control is valuable, especially at the guard position.   Defensive Presence: She competes. Parker stays in front, applies steady pressure, and doesn't take plays off. She's not overly risky but plays smart positional defense and communicates well within structure. Offensively, she can space, slash, and finish, but defensively is where she separates—Rousell has the ability to legitimately guard 1 through 5 when needed.
