Ty’Asia Young is a tempo-setting point guard whose game is built around speed, pressure, and energy. She doesn’t just play the game—she dictates pace. When she’s on the floor, things move faster, and defenses are forced to react.

Offensive Engine:
Young thrives in space. She’s most effective when pushing the ball, attacking early, and forcing defenses into uncomfortable positions. Her quickness allows her to get downhill, collapse defenses, and create openings.

She’s not a static guard—she’s constantly probing, shifting angles, and keeping defenders off balance. When she stays aggressive, she becomes difficult to contain.

Playmaking Style:
Young creates opportunities through pressure. Instead of waiting for plays to develop, she forces the action, which can open up passing lanes and scoring chances. Her ability to break down defenders is a key asset, especially in transition and early offense.

After earning district honorable mention as a freshman, Young came into this season hungry for more — and she’s playing fearlessly. With the confidence of a seasoned player, her quick first step allows her to handle pressure, set up the offense, and create opportunities for teammates. She’s also emerged as a major scoring threat in the playoffs, making big plays when it matters most.

Young had some “old school” things going for her when I caught her in middle school, yet on a star-studded team, she has shown she can control the tempo as well as handle the pressure applied to her but peep this, she’s also turned into a legitimate scoring threat who dowesn’t shy away from wanting and delivering oin the clutch see evaluations here

Young is having a breakout season and is probably among the top long-ball shooters not only in the Houston area, but in the state. She went off early in the Kickoff Classic as her long ball helped change the momentum of the game early, but her “catch and shoot” looks even better, as does her court vision as she’s “threading the needle” in traffic. She also applied baseline-to-baseline pressure, which helped create turnovers

Young was another Houston Lady Net player I caught in middle school, and she had me so intrigued with her game that I had to find out what her name was. She’s smooth under pressure with the ball, yet her ability to apply “on the ball” pressure baseline to baseline is a huge plus. She has quick hands to pick pockets, she plays the passing lane, yet her court vision, as well as scoring from off the dribble or midrange, will be another key to open the door

Young threw so many no-looks in traffic that my neck started to hurt, but what I enjoyed even more was how she set her teammates up for gimmes and got a kick out of it when they scored. Yeah, she can attack off the dribble and finish off balance after the lick, as well as drop the jumper, but her court vision across the board was a big YES

Young grabbed my attention a couple of seasons ago with her Houston Lady Nets club squad and her poise under pressure immediately grabbed my attention. She’s made the transition to high school ball nicely and has shown she could run the 1, as well as play the 2 yet her “on the ball” pressure has gotten better, and so has her court vision

Young has created plenty of buzz this season as I’ve been overwhelmed with people asking me if had I seen the freshman at Summer Creek and I told them all no.
