Opening Live Period across the country was a huge success! It was a hit as our girls got after it, showing the basketball world what our game is all about. We had teams in Wisconsin, Arizona, Ohio, Texas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, wherever there was an event, Tennessee girls were getting buckets. Now, don't get me wrong, there is some amazing competition out there as well, but I am impressed with how our girls stepped it up a notch and competed. Everyone is battling for an opportunity to play at the next level, and the state had their best out there showcasing their skills.

Now I will say this, student-athlete, keep hooping. This recruiting game is a process. It is a long, time-consuming journey. You must stay the course and focus on things that you can control. Several schools chose to stay home and host kids from the transfer portal. So you better believe that in the next live period, more coaches will be on the road. It's pivotal that your game is on point, as there will be more opportunities for you to shine. Just keep grinding!

Looking at the box scores, checking X and Instagram, and talking with multiple program directors, our Tennessee kids brought it. Win or lose, our programs were tough outings, and many other states walked away from events saying how tough our kids are. That's a testament to a lot of people: program directors, coaches, HS coaches, trainers, etc, but also to the student-athlete because they put on a heck of a performance and won the moment.

This week, we are going to focus on all the success kids had during the first live period. So we will be going all over the country, giving props to kids both near and far. Here are just a few kids we would like to kick the week off by mentioning, based on their style of play and the success they had during the opening weekend of the NCAA Live Period.

Confident ballplayer who shines when the lights come on. This kid has range to her game, but can also get to the basketball. One attribute I love about her is her ability to use her length to cause turnovers. Multiple times, she got deflections and steals as teams underestimated her ability to get her hands on the ball. When that occurred, it was easy points as she laid it in countless times. She's a heckuva ballplayer and one who is gaining attention from college coaches.

She was in her bag and then some. She led her KYP club in scoring in multiple games. She was locked and loaded as she found the bottom of the net multiple times. She played with poise, confidence, and precision as she carved up opponents during the opening session. She is a solid ballplayer who will be tough to deal with as she becomes more confident. Look for her to carry over this performance to the next session and turn some heads along the way. A combo guard who is disruptive on both ends of the floor.

A hustler who can utilize her size to her advantage. She plays the game with relentless energy, and it just seemed as if anytime there was a ball to be had, it was she who went after it. Rebounding and scoring, she did her thing, being impactful for her club as they battled tough opponents. This kid commands the rock, can pass out of double-teams, and puts the ball in the net. Oh, let me add that she is a tough defender, making it difficult for opponents to reach their spots. She's got many schools after her commitment, but you better believe some more will be jumping on board real soon. A solid kid who is an exceptional leader both on and off the floor.

A solid post player who put on a magnificent performance this past weekend. She was in double figures in multiple games, putting the ball in the basket and owning the boards. She established her presence early, dominating the painted area. She was hard to move off her mark, and when she received the rock, she was quick to get into her bag on her way to the rim. This kid is a tough ballplayer and one of the top low-post players in her class. Keep tabs on her as her game continues to grow and reach new heights.

Solid change of pace guard who can get downhill and finish at the rim or unleash a nice mid-range jumper. She was big-time in the opening weekend as she got after it on both ends of the floor. Quick decision-maker, someone who is going to take it to her opponents; she is playing with such confidence that her team follows her lead. Her court vision sets her apart from many guards. Look for her to remain a solid floor general and a difference-maker.
