Phenom Hoops Queen City Showcase: 2027 Top Performers

That can especially be the case during live periods.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For a number of teams, their live period schedule would bring them to the Rock Hill-Fort Mill area of South Carolina for the Queen City Showcase. Hosted by Phenom Hoops, girls games emanated from Nation Ford HS – a school that will drop down in classification from 5A to 4A starting with the 2026-27 season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand at The Roost for the day's festivities. A noteworthy standout at 4A Aiken, she displays her toughness whenever her sneakers make contact with the hardwood. Glover understands the art of delivering strong finishes at the rim and can get crafty and creative with how she does so from time to time. Her defense can lead to many occasions where an opposing team is turnover prone. The Midland Valley name is quick and defense and has a 3-point shot as part of her overall offensive repertoire. Hunter thrives as a transition playmaker and gets how vital it is to ensure her arms are stretched out as a defender. One can place Hunter in a team's starting five either at the two or as a point guard. In addition to basketball, Anthony has also played volleyball and soccer. She is listed at 5-foot-9 and is one of four from the class of 2028 that was playing on the travel team's roster. That height gives her a distinction as one of the taller standouts for her club assembling. She welcomes contact that can place her at the free throw line. Many a coach wants someone such as Thomas who treats the charity stripe like a sixth woman in case the shots are not falling from the field. Much of what she does is in close proximity to the rim – on either end of the floor. When an opposing player is at the free throw line, she stands ready to box out in case of a missed attempt on the second try (or the first if a one-and-one). She was one of four juniors on this past season's Gryphons team. Waugh places plenty of emphasis on being able to handle the ball even among a number of opposing defenders. She played in 26 games this past season for Thomas Jefferson Classical while averaging 5.1 points and 1.6 steals per contest. Following a solid season with 3A Shelby, she has continued that stellar play in her final AAU campaign with Carolina Queens Elite. French would play in 21 games this past season with the Golden Lions while averaging 10.9 points, five rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.7 steals per contest. Those statistics only tell part of the story with French as she is a consistent playmaker who can be counted on to come up with big plays in big moments of big games. Another consistent playmaker, she is coming off a season with 6A Ashbrook where she played in 21 games for the Greenwave. McDowell averaged 9.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.7 steals per contest. When watching McDowell play, one can see why she put up such numbers. She is a consistent scorer, rebounder and defender who knows how to turn defense into offense. Yelton would play in 26 games for the Gryphons this past season. At one point in her career, she also played volleyball in addition to basketball before putting more of her focus on hoops. Yelton averaged 8.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 steals throughout the 2025-26 campaign for the Gryphons. While she spends most of her time playing in the backcourt, Yelton will have occasions where she plays the three. When said athletic plate is not taken up by basketball, it is taken up by time on the soccer pitch. Blickley is in the throes of her final AAU season with Lake Norman Lightning 17U. While primarily playing at point guard, Blickley can also operate at the wing which can give her minutes as either a two guard or a three forward. This past season with 3A Pine Lake Prep would see Blickley play in 27 contests this past season. Bell has since embarked on her final grassroots season with Lake Norman Lightning 17U. This past season for the Trojans, Bell would average 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.3 assists per contest. Bell is a consistent threat to collect steals and create additional offensive possessions for her team. Making fast break plays is another highly strong attribute of Bell's game.
