Hundreds of players from Wisconsin will play AAU basketball this spring and summer for Michigan, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin-based programs. There are players from all over the state I'd like to see play at some point this AAU season, if possible, and I will highlight why I'd like to see some of these players on the floor for their programs at some point this grassroots season.

Nobody had a breakout high school season quite like Cochenet this past year. The Mukwonago native has all the tools to be a highly sought-after kid in the 2028 class. She is an athletic wing who can handle the ball, defend multiple positions, and has the length to be an effective defender. I loved what I saw from her this past season, and there isn't much she isn't comfortable doing. She could have a breakout AAU campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='880249' first='Lauren' last='Mester']

The Mount Horeb guard is an undersized kid, but has an excellent handle. Mester is comfortable orchestrating an offense and making plays within her team's system. She plays with another lead guard in high school, and plays off the ball more than she would at the next level, and I'd like to see her over the summer in a different setting with another year of maturity behind her.

[player_tooltip player_id='978272' first='Eva' last='Englebert']

After missing most of her first season due to injury, Englebert had a solid first full season of high school basketball in her sophomore season. She is comfortable operating with the ball in her hands and has the skill set to create her shot off the dribble. Her ability to seperate from her defender is something that can allow her to be an effective guard anywhere she plays, and she has plenty of room to develop on both ends of the floor. The more she plays, the better she'll become.

[player_tooltip player_id='888379' first='Layla' last='Walz']

The Wisconsin Lutheran guard is a confident pass-first player. Walz is comfortable taking high-pressure shots and didn't hesitate when they came her way in this past high school season. She wasn't the primary focus of the Vikings' offense, but may have to be a more prominent player in her AAU team's offense. The potential of her having to hunt her shot more than she has before is something that I've never seen her do before, and it could help me learn more about what she can do on the offensive end of the floor.
