When I was growing up (not dating myself), a lot of kids watched wrestling. There was an event called The Royal Rumble. This event was one of the big-time wrestling events that everyone tuned in to watch. Right before the brawl, the announcer would yell, “ Are you ready to Rumble!” That phrase alone just sent chills down your spine as you witness the next spectacle over the next hour.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That phrase came back to my mind when I thought about some kids who were bound to get their breakthrough this upcoming season. To be honest with you, it's not just the kids I am about to name; I feel we are going to see many kids from our state take the next step in their maturation. I believe it. I see it. If you take the time to watch how one's game has grown, you too can witness and experience the feeling I am talking about. She can use her size to play inside, but also dial it up from deep. She has an amazing ability to elevate, unleashing a quick first step into a dribble pull-up or catching on the block and turning into a fadeaway. She's a stingy defender, where she gets her hands on balls that lead to transition buckets. Inside the painted area, she can score with her back to the basket or faced up. She can knock 3s on the perimeter and be used in the screen game, where she sets solid screens and finishes at the rim. She uses her length to deter shots, making it difficult for her opponent to score. One thing is for sure: she is going to crash the boards, giving her club an advantage. This kid is becoming a solid prospect. That's not the only thing that has improved; she's solid on defense, where she's causing chaos with steals and deflections. Defense is her calling card, where she likes to pick up full, turn her opposition, and either get steals and deflections. She's a lockdown defender who prides herself on that end of the floor. She's a dawg, and it doesn't matter who she is playing; she gets after it. Offensively, she can knock down shots from multiple spots, facilitate the rim, and finish at the rim. She's solid on the boards, keeping possessions alive or eliminating second-chance opportunities for a team. Has size, speed, and length, which enable her to do many things. She plays with a lot of heart and confidence. Coaches are starting to take notice, and Brooklyn is on the cusp of her breakthrough.
