Day 1 Recap From Louisville

The next NCAA Live viewing period of the year is in full effect. Kids from our state got to work yesterday, showcasing their skills in front of collegiate coaches. Going to various spots across the country, our kids from this state are doing their thing. I was in Louisville yesterday, taking it all in. Great event. Solid matchups. Coaches on the baselines. Teams truly got their money's worth for sure.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What I would say to a kid is this. The name on the front of your jersey brings coaches to the court. It's your job to keep those coaches there. Be the best version of you, and every moment you are on the court, you must take advantage of it. Not all coaches sit on the baselines and watch games. Some have their own quirky things they do to not tip off the competition if they happen to be looking at a prospect. A kid who plays with a motor. She makes the right reads and competes on the defensive end. She made some clutch shots down the stretch, and her ability to step up when her team needed a bucket was big-time. Countless times, she beat her defender off the dribble and elevated into her shot. Anything that was coming off the glass, she was in position to finish. When fed the ball down low, she had a bag full of moves that enabled her to finish over her opponent. Knocked down some clutch 3s in both of her games. Was big time on the defensive end, slowing down her opponent and contributing on the boards. She didn't force the issue on anything, but picked her spots to exploit. Playing on a talented team, she knew when it was her time to get buckets and when to facilitate the rock to the hot hand. Coaches loved her size and temperament, and she was one they truly marked to continue to follow. She's a kid who can play multiple positions. Not only can she be versatile in play, but she also does a multitude of things when she is on the floor. She's a heady ballplayer who knows when to exploit an opportunity or pull back and run something more effective. She knocked down shots from all 3 levels yesterday. Her ability to contribute on the offense and then turn around and defend really did pique the interest of collegiate coaches.<br><br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
