Jazz City Jam: 14U Top Performers

The energy was different at the Jazz City Jam as the 14U division took the floor with confidence, excitement, and a fearless mentality. Even at a young age, this group showed they are already building the foundation to become the next wave of talent to watch.   From the opening tip to the final buzzer, the intensity never slowed down. Guards pushed the tempo and attacked with confidence, wings impacted the game with hustle and versatility, and bigs battled inside with toughness beyond their years. Every matchup brought energy, competitiveness, and players eager to prove themselves on the big stage.   What stood out most was the growth and potential this group displayed throughout the weekend. Players communicated, competed hard, embraced coaching, and continued to make adjustments from game to game. The skill level continues to rise at this age group, but the effort, heart, and willingness to learn were what truly separated these athletes.   Jazz City Jam gave the 14U division a platform to shine, and this group took full advantage of the opportunity. Whether it was crafty ball-handling, confident shooting, defensive pressure, rebounding, or nonstop hustle plays, these young athletes brought passion and energy every time they stepped on the floor.   The mindset of this class was impossible to ignore. Players weren't afraid of the moment—they embraced it. Coaches and scouts saw athletes diving for loose balls, making unselfish plays, encouraging teammates, and competing with relentless effort possession after possession. The toughness, basketball IQ, and passion for the game were on full display all weekend long.   Jazz City Jam wasn't just another tournament stop for this group—it was an opportunity to grow, gain confidence, and show flashes of what the future could become. At 5'5, she plays with confidence and brings energy to the floor as a developing small forward who can impact the game in different ways.   Offensively, Ford shows the ability to attack the basket, play through traffic, and create opportunities in transition. She has a good feel for spacing and continues to develop as a scorer who can become more effective both off the bounce and away from the ball.   Defensively, Ford competes with activity and effort. She has the tools to pressure the ball, stay active in passing lanes, and create extra possessions with hustle plays. Her athleticism and motor give her value on both ends of the floor.   Coach Lathan Take   “Dajha has the tools to grow into a strong two-way player. She brings energy, attacks the game, and has the upside to keep rising.”     Taylor Haggard is a long, athletic forward with major upside and the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor. She already shows a strong feel for how effective she can be in the paint, using her size, length, and activity to create problems around the rim.   Offensively, Haggard runs the floor well, gets into strong scoring position, and can finish when she stays poised. She shows promise as a paint presence who can clean up misses, score off catches, and create second-chance opportunities. As her confidence continues to grow, she has the tools to become a dependable interior scorer.   Defensively, her length and timing stand out. She can rebound, contest shots, and make players adjust around the basket. Her activity gives her team extra possessions and helps control the paint.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Coach Lathan Take</h3>   “Taylor has the size, length, and motor to be a problem. When she stays active and lets the game come to her, she can impact everything around the rim.”     Jaime McElveen is a long, versatile backcourt prospect with the size and skillset to impact the game in multiple ways. At 5'10, she brings great length for a guard, allowing her to see over defenders, create mismatches, and play comfortably on or off the ball.   Offensively, McElveen shows promise as a scoring guard and playmaker. She can handle the ball, attack gaps, and create opportunities in transition. Her size gives her an advantage when getting downhill, finishing over smaller guards, or making reads when the defense collapses.   Defensively, her length gives her upside as a disruptive guard. She has the tools to pressure the ball, contest shots, and jump passing lanes. As she continues to develop consistency and confidence, her two-way impact can continue to grow.   <h3 class="wp-block-heading">Coach Lathan Take</h3>   “Jaime has the size and tools you like in a guard. With her length, skill, and versatility, she has a chance to become a serious matchup problem.”     Alexandria Johns is a strong, versatile frontcourt prospect who can impact the game inside and out. At 5'10, she brings good size, toughness, and activity around the paint while also showing the ability to step away from the basket and contribute offensively.   Offensively, Johns is a capable scorer who can finish inside, rebound through traffic, and create second-chance opportunities. She has the tools to score around the rim while continuing to grow as a forward who can stretch the floor and become more versatile.   Defensively, she plays with aggression and effort. Johns can battle on the glass, protect space, contest shots, and block attempts around the rim. Her physicality and willingness to defend make her a valuable presence on that end.   Coach Lathan Take   “Alexandria brings toughness, rebounding, and defensive presence. When she stays aggressive, she can change the game on both ends.”     [player_tooltip player_id='1847370' first='Ahmarra' last='Bell'] is a young, versatile prospect with a unique ability to contribute from multiple spots on the floor. Listed as a small forward/point guard, she brings toughness, energy, and developing guard skills that make her an intriguing player in the 2031 class.   Offensively, Bell shows promise as a player who can handle the ball, attack gaps, and create plays in transition. She has the ability to play with pace and confidence, while continuing to grow as a scorer and decision-maker.   Defensively, Bell competes with effort and activity. She can pressure the ball, stay involved off the ball, and use her energy to create extra possessions. As she continues to develop, her versatility and motor will help her impact both ends.
