The PGH MI State Tournament brought a strong collection of talent to Grand Rapids this weekend, with competitive matchups taking place across multiple age divisions. For this article, the focus is on the Saturday morning games at MSA Fieldhouse on Courts 1 and 2, where several interior players from the 15U, 16U, and 17U divisions stood out with their play in the paint. From dominant rebounders and rim protectors to skilled finishers and physical post players, there were plenty of frontcourt prospects who made a major impact throughout the morning session. Here are some of the interior standouts that caught my attention on Saturday at the PGH MI State Tournament.

Lucy, an interior player for [program_tooltip program_id='1244063' first='Great' last='Lakes Grind'], put together an impressive performance during Saturday morning action at the PGH MI State Tournament. She possesses a combination of size and mobility that projects well for the next level and consistently impacted the game on both ends of the floor. Offensively, Lucy showed her versatility by attacking from the high post, getting past her defender, and finishing with a smooth inside-hand layup around the rim. She established position well in the paint and scored comfortably throughout the morning session. Lucy also stepped out and knocked down a three-pointer, adding another dimension to her offensive game. Defensively, she was very effective protecting the paint, using strong positioning and physicality while walling up against post players and recording multiple blocked shots. She also battled hard on the glass and consistently competed for rebounds on both ends.

Charlee, a post player for [program_tooltip program_id='1352777' first='Grand' last='Rapids Thunder'], brought toughness and physicality to the floor during Saturday morning action at the PGH MI State Tournament. She competed hard inside throughout the game, battling on the glass and consistently working for rebounds in traffic. Defensively, the post player made her presence felt around the rim with several blocked shots and strong interior defense. On the offensive end, her aggressive play in the paint helped her earn multiple trips to the free throw line as she fought through contact and stayed active around the basket. Her effort level and willingness to do the dirty work stood out all morning.

Anna, a post player for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'], had a productive Saturday morning at the PGH MI State Tournament and impacted the game in several ways for her team. Around the basket, she showcased polished footwork and was effective creating scoring opportunities in the paint, including a strong spin move that defenders struggled to contain. Anna also battled hard on the glass and came away with numerous offensive rebounds, consistently creating extra possessions through her effort and positioning. In addition to her interior scoring, she did an excellent job setting solid screens that helped free up teammates offensively. When double teams collapsed on her in the post, Anna stayed composed and made smart passes out of traffic to keep the offense flowing.

Christie, a post player for MBA, made a strong impact during Saturday morning play at the PGH MI State Tournament with her activity and toughness inside. She battled hard on the boards all game long, working relentlessly for rebounds on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Christie consistently created second-chance opportunities for her team with multiple offensive put-backs around the basket. Defensively, she protected the paint extremely well and came away with several blocked shots, using her timing and presence around the rim to disrupt opposing offenses. Her motor and physical play stood out throughout the morning session.

Mariyah, a post player for [program_tooltip program_id='962116' first='Aspire' last=''], had a strong showing during Saturday morning action at the PGH MI State Tournament. Even while playing up two grade levels, she competed with confidence and held her own against older competition. Mariyah finished well around the basket and showed good touch scoring in traffic. She also worked hard on the glass, battling for rebounds and helping her team control possessions inside. Her effort to establish position in the paint stood out throughout the game, and she consistently ran the floor hard in transition, creating opportunities by beating defenders down the court.
