All City Series: Jackson Prospects (Part 3)

Though no one is a finished product, many prospects are putting together a solid body of work that is catching the attention of decision-makers at the next level. As they grind away at their craft, college may be on their minds, but many of them are focusing right where their feet are, and that's being the best they can be and helping their ball club win state.   The more I think about this area, the more I realize how competitive it can be. Each year, kids from this part of the state represent well in the tournament. Over the past years, numerous clubs from this area have won state and finished in the Final Four or Elite Eight. That's a testament not only to these coaches and programs but also to the kids who get after it nightly, leaving it all on the line. This area has plenty of talent, and the type that is going to go out there and do work by any means necessary.   As we continue to look at the Jackson area, here are a few more prospects to look forward to. These girls are tough competitors who will leave their mark on every contest. Though there are more girls out there on the horizon or on the come up, here are a few girls that will round out our Jackson city series in this part 3 edition.    Versatile athlete who plays with such speed and precision. She's an impactful player who can get it done in a multitude of ways. She led the charge on a fast break, showcasing her speed and ability to finish through contact. She can spot up on the 3-point line and deliver daggers that spark a run for her club. She can exploit the mid-range game too; my point is that the ball will find the bottom of the net. She anticipates well defensively, jumping passing lanes and coming up with steals. Her length causes problems for opponents, as she keeps them in front and comes up with loose balls, deflections, etc. She is a kid who is going to bring it and do whatever it takes to contribute to her team's success. Keep up with this young lady as she and her squad make another run for state contention.     An aggressive kid who is tough on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she dominates the painted area. Finishing over either shoulder, stepping out, and knocking down the midrange, the ball finds a way to scorch the bottom of the net. Plays in attack mode all the time; she is going to go through the opposition on the way to the rim. They have great reactionary skills, and they are always on display on the defensive end. She gets steals, blocks shots, and contributes on the boards. She doesn't have to look for an outlet as she, too, can start the break, leading the charge the other way. She's very talented. Athletic. One who is putting together a solid body of work. Keep tabs on this young lady as she is becoming one of the top kids in the area.     A heady ballplayer who is going to leave it all on the line. Defensively, she is going to make her opponent work. I love her ability to get after it, creating chaos that leads to tough shot attempts or steals. She's going to show up in this part of the game, leaving her mark for sure. Offensively, she can create off the dribble, knock down shots from multiple spots, get her teammates involved, and change the pace of her team, putting them in a better position to exploit a defense. A talented kid who plays with such energy and effort. Look for her to continue to add to her game. She's a kid who is going to give you all she has and then some. A solid leader who is still growing as a ballplayer.     Versatile player who is a stingy defender. She's going to be a pest on the defensive side of the ball, creating turnover opportunities that lead to easy buckets going the other way. She plays with speed, getting to her favorable spots to knock down shots from anywhere on the floor. She can stop and pop to exploit the mid-range. Change gears and finish against contact in the paint. Catch and shoot, hold that form high as she knocks down a three-pointer. She's a go-getter who is a tough competitor. Look for her to have a solid senior season, making a lot of noise on multiple fronts.     A kid whose game is on the come up. A tough competitor who is going to find ways to help her team win. Doesn't matter what it is; she is going to stick her nose in there and give it all she has. From getting steals on the defensive end to knocking down 3s on the offensive end, she is going to do her part and then some. Playing with such confidence, she continues to improve her game and becomes a kid to watch. Had a solid freshman season, she is ready to get back at it and showcase her talent. As USJ makes another run towards the state, you better believe this kid is going to do her part to help her club. Keep your eyes on this young lady; she's still growing, and before it's all said and done, she will be someone who will be a solid contributor for a club at the next level.     “Let it rip, tater chip. “ An old saying my mom used to say when I was a kid. This kid brings a lot to the table and holds nothing back. Playing with poise and confidence, she goes after opponents like no other. She can dial it up from deep or take an opponent off the bounce, leaving them in the dust on her way to the rim. She plays the game with such energy and excitement, bringing joy to the party. She is a 3-level scoring threat that gets after it even more on the defensive end. She's bound to have a breakthrough year, and when her moment comes, teams better look out, and college coaches better get on board. A talented kid with tremendous upside.
