Basha's Rising Stars Make Noise at Section 7

Basha has a very talented young core in the making. The Bears competed very well in Section 7. Discipline and talent stood out the most in this young team. Coach Bright has placed the Basha Bears into one of the more exciting teams to watch this coming year. What stood out about this young Basha team is how athletic they are. Here are the Basha players who stood out at Section 7 this past weekend.    Terrais-Joi is a very talented combo guard who can run the offense and score from anywhere on the court. She has a high basketball IQ and can create shots for herself and her teammates. She plays at a good pace and knows how to set the tempo of the game. She can shoot from anywhere on the floor, and what makes her dangerous is how she penetrates to the basket off of her first quick first step. On the defensive side of the ball, she has length and can anticipate passing lanes. She has excellent footwork and can move very well laterally. Terrais-Joi will have a breakout year as she continues to lead her young Basha team to the next level.     Amira is versatile and stretches the floor very well. What stands out about her is how strong she is as a player. She is not afraid to put the ball on the floor and create a shot for herself. Amira plays with toughness and is very physical on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. Amira moves very well for her size, and what stands out is how quickly she can make lateral movements. She attacks the glass with a high motor. Amira also handles the ball well and can create her shot off the dribble, spreading the floor well. Amira has size, mobility, and skill to play at the next level. Amira will only get better as she continues to take more of a leadership role this season.     Tifaimoana is a very strong player. She handles all the intangibles for her team and, at Section 7, made hustle plays throughout the tournament. She made many plays that may not show up in the stat sheet. She plays disciplined defense and has a high basketball IQ. Tifaimoana is a very good perimeter shooter. What stood out about Tifaimoana is how well she attacked the basket. She plays with good instincts and is very tough. Tifaimoana has a high ceiling.     Julia is a very talented player. Julia is a skilled left-hander who has a very nice wingspan. Julia's wingspan allows her to make an impact on both sides of the floor. Julia shoots the three-point shot with confidence and is a consistent threat. Julia has excellent footwork and body control. She also has strong basketball instincts and anticipates the next play very well. What stands out about Julia is that she focuses on doing the little things for her team. She plays very physically for her size and also rebounds well. Julia has a good size and length and is very tough.     Dalahnir is very impressive as a player. Dalahnir's energy is contagious.She is very agile for her size. She is emerging as a real leader for this Basha team. The more playing time she gets, the more she elevates her game. She brings relentless energy on both sides of the floor. On offense, she is a scoring threat. She is not afraid to take perimeter shots, but what stands out about Dalahnir's game is how she handles the ball in open space. Dalahnir is not afraid to attack the gaps and finish strong at the rim. She has a high motor and makes her compete on each play.     Aliyah is a young and exciting prospect. Aliyah is not afraid to run the offense, can score from the perimeter, and is the type of player who plays at a good pace. Aliyah creates shots for herself and her teammates, especially in open transition. At a young age, she has a high basketball IQ. She can shoot from the perimeter and can finish through contact. She has good lateral movement as a defender and plays with poise. The more that Aliyah plays, the better she will become. She plays with a confidence rare in a young player.     A'Marie is a young player who loves to compete and brings a lot of energy to the game. On the defensive side, she is relentless. She takes pride in making it very hard for opposing guards to play. She applies pressure and plays with toughness. Offensively, she is always making the extra play. She dives for loose balls and is not afraid to crash the glass. What stands out most about A'Marie is that she is always willing to make the extra winning play.
