GBCA Live: 2028 Notables

When Branch's number was called, she delivered. August came off the bench to drill three threes including the game-winner in sudden death double overtime to defeat Sandy Creek. Branch has a unique skill set that should draw college attention. She has the physical size to bang on the block, but her floor spacing three-point shot as a stretch big is most intriguing. The sixth man would start on most teams across the state. Expect a breakout senior season following one more year as a key reserve. Colleges should start building their relationship now.     Madelyn got stronger as the event wore on, upping her point totals from 6 to 8 to 10 to 15. Consistency is a major area of focus. Drucker is heavily reliant on her jump shot, but when she does decide to use her strong frame and attack the basket, she is effective, especially good getting to her left hand. Madelyn rebounds well for a guard, anticipating where caroms will land.     Rush will likely draw college attention. Her height, her frame and her bounciness are intriguing. Kayden is a terrific rebounder. She is lean, but has wide shoulders, exploding off the ground for second and third chances. Rush is an impactful glue guy that does the dirty work. In a win over Whitefield Academy, Kayden collected 6 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. If she is able to refine her offensive game with some go-to moves, Rush could surge up recruiting boards.     Katelyn has a versatile skill set. Cherry plays around the rim, equipped with impressive athleticism and a long strong frame. What sticks out most to me is her passing. She sees the floor exceptionally well, adept at fitting in tough passes in tight areas inside the arc. Cherry still has untapped potential as a scorer, but her Swiss Army Knife skill is very impactful. In a win over Westlake, she tallied 9 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal while battling Jamyce Solomon.     The headbanded point guard plays with an edge. Harper is strong with the ball, never playing on her heels. When she attacks the rim, she scores with both hands. Ellison utilizes a left-handed floater to score amongst the trees. She stretches the floor with her three-point shot. Harper picks apart the 2-3 zone with her decision making. Against Madison County, Harper had 10 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Ellison knows how to run a team.     The lefty hit the game-winner in the lane against Heritage-Catoosa. Dumas looks ready for a breakout season. She's got great size on the perimeter but more importantly, a rapidly expanding game. Desirae plays with speed and fluidity, catching the ball and immediately looking to make things happen. She uses ball fakes and a has quick first step to get to the rim. She scores through contact, kicks to open shooters and is effective when spacing the floor herself.     Brought great effort inside for a team starved for size. Williams crashes the offensive glass and alters shots on defense. Her length and willingness to get involved helped the Mustangs compete. In a narrow loss to Lamar County, Marquavia went for 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks, proving she didn't need any offensive touches in order to fulfill her role and positively impact the game.     Jaydynn's length and quality athleticism are important for a small Rabun County team. Cohee can have a nonchalant feel sometimes, but she's effective in the front court. She's a springy rebounder who can catch defenders off guard with her shooting stroke. Against Woodland-Stockbridge, Jaydynn knocked down a long two and hit a mid-range jumper en route to 8 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal. She has nice quickness when pursuing rebounds. Expect her to rack up buckets on rolls to the rim.
