Now that the June "scholastic live period" is over, I wanted to circle back and consider who could be the breakout candidates for the next month during the two "live" periods for women's basketball. There is no exact, singular qualification for these, just who I think could have a big Summer or whose recruiting could really take off.

Alanna had an outstanding Spring with her West Virginia Thunder team, and she was good a couple of weeks ago with her Fishers team. She seems to have figured it out of late and has been finding ways to be productive each time she takes the court, whether that's as a scorer, a defender, or a rebounder. She is so powerful, but she's also athletic and plays with a nice motor. While some bigger schools might consider her "too short", I think she'll outwork a lot of those 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-3 girls who might have a lot of upside but are still trying to find their way.

Jocelyn has always possessed nice upside, and while she's shown flashes of it in the past, she seemed to progress each weekend with her Magic team this Spring. By May, she was playing at a much higher level than I recall ever seeing her, and I am encouraged that if she's able to bring that same play to the court in July, she should stir up a lot more college interest. She has good size, some strength, but she's a solid all-around athlete with skill as well. She can handle it some like a point forward and get her team into their offense, plus she's a multilevel scoring threat.

A lot of times when July rolls around, a few kids have already committed in the rising Senior class, so colleges begin to pivot and explore other options. Well, with Ivy being 6-4, I feel like she'll draw a lot of onlookers who will see her height on the roster and they'll want to explore what she can do on the court. Ivy has a big, strong frame, but she also has some length to her. She has good hands, she's put in the time assembling a nice array of post moves, plus she has some touch facing the basket. A determined July out of her could see her interest rise very quickly.

A lot of recruiting is about who you play with, where you play, etc. Throughout the Spring, I felt like Masen played extremely well at times, but a few of her teammates had more buzz entering April and May. Following a productive 2025-2026 season, and a strong spring, I feel like if Masen continues that type of play throughout July, she's going to draw a lot of good small college attention. She's a really nice athlete, an aggressive attacked, and an effortful defender who can cause havoc for opponents. I really think she has gone under the radar a bit, but July could be big for her.

Havana has been trending upward all Spring, and I feel like July could see her really take off in terms of her recruiting. She started to look healthy and more like herself in April, then she was much more consistent and productive in May. She changed schools in June, but she fit in almost seamlessly with the Red Devils, and she looked comfortable and explosive at times. Her ability to shoot the ball has always been her draw, but she has a good mind for the game, she's a solid ball-handler and a good passer, plus she plays with a nice motor. She is playing as well as she has in a couple of years.
