I’ve seen Havana now a couple of times in the last three weeks, and she has played as well as I can remember over the past couple of years. She is shooting it well, she looks like she is getting rid of it with consistent mechanics, and she is shooting it with range. She has always shown a little shiftiness to her game off the bounce, and that hasn’t changed. I am still trying to figure out which position she’ll best defend at the next level, because offensively, she has a really nice skillset and basketball IQ, and I think someone could get a steal.

She consistently put herself in the right positions throughout the showcase, using smart movement and court awareness to make herself tough to guard. What makes Havana so effective is her versatility as a scorer. She showed the ability to attack the rim with confidence, finishing through contact, while also displaying range beyond the arc. That inside-out balance forces defenders to play her honestly, which opens opportunities for both her and her teammates. Her production last season at Decatur Central speaks volumes she was the team’s second-leading scorer while also leading in assists and free throw percentage as just a sophomore. Entering her junior season, Havana is looking to build on that foundation and lead her team not only in statistics but also in the win column. With her scoring ability, court vision, and efficiency, she has the tools to take another leap and establish herself as one of the more impactful guards in her area.

Havana had a solid day working through the skills & drills part of the morning, but it was her play during the 5-on-5 that stood out to me. She got hot at the right time and buried a number of 3-point attempts, some contested, and some with range a couple of feet comfortably behind the 3-point line. She plays with such versatility, whether that’s scoring it in a variety of ways, creating for others, or being able to defend multiple positions equally well.

Havana is and has been a playmaker. She can score the ball from all three levels, but she also has some creativity to her game and can find open teammates consistently as well. She has a strong frame, broad shoulders, and really nice length. However, she looks a little leaner and more naturally explosive this year. As she continues to build her skillset, I look for her to extend her range but also get to the rim more and use the free throw line as a weapon. I do like her grit and willingness to rebound and defend multiple positions.
