Over the course of June I attended a pair of strongly attended Mid America Youth Basketball tournaments and Hutchinson Community College's team camp. The events were terrific opportunities to see talents from around the state. I had a chance to get an updated look at many incoming seniors. Below are updated assessments of seven.

The unanimous 4A all-state and two-time North Central Kansas League first team selection showed why she is among the toughest match-up problems in the classification. At the MAYB Summer Kickoff she used her solid build, athleticism, length and motor to battle contact well on both ends and to create her own shot.

Be it taking quality shots, driving into the lane or slicing into defenses and kicking to shooters O'Rand consistently read defenses and took what they gave. Solid in transition both with the ball and when running lanes I would have liked to seen her be a more assertive on-ball defender in the half court. O'Rand picked up 3A honorable mention honors from KSHSAA and SIK following the 2026 season.

Randall-Hurt played a strong series of games at the MAYB Summer Kickoff. I would not be surprised if she picked up a few offers as a result. The two-time 3A all-state honorable mention (KSHSAA, SIK) and North Central Activities Association first teamer showed she is among the top centers in the classification. Dominant center who goes with the power game. She showed handles to go end-to-end, use of a Euro-step to create on the finish, surprising quickness and good hops for her size. She hit the three fluidly and her free throws. An active rebounder and good help-side defender.

One aspect of Jordy's game that appeared at the 3A state tournament was her scoring ability. It was a late catalyst for the Dragons to advance to the semi-finals. At the MAYB Summer Kickoff her ability to put the ball in the hole in a variety of ways was on display. Transitions plays, perimeter shots and off-the-dribble opportunities saw her shine. Among the things that enabled her to shine was her length and finishing ability through contact. Schroeder is heading into her senior season following Central Kansas League second team and 3A honorable mention or second team selections by KBCA, KSHSAA and SIK.

After missing her entire junior season recovering from a knee injury Suter-Tan is back. Seeing her for the second time this summer, at the Hutchinson Community College team camp, she is not just back to form but is stronger and quicker. The Celtic's best ball handler picks her spots well to drive and finish with athleticism. She also makes a concerted effort to involve her teammates. The all-Heart Of America League selection also made 2A all-state honorable mention rosters for KSHSAACovered and SIK.

Despite receiving second or third team all-state selections from different outlets and first team all-Arkansas Valley-Chisholm Trail League first team honors Winter is among the most under-appreciated point guards in 4A. I have always been high on her and her play at the MAYB Summer Kickoff did nothing to displace those thoughts. The show-running point guard showed interior vision and handles and speed that trashed full court pressure. Quick, athletic and active Winter even showed a jump and dump dime drop to collect an assist. Colleges looking for a floor leader must have Winter on their short list.

Zachman had a terrific MAYB Summer Kickoff. She was the lead point guard for her team and she showed herself to be quick and athletic with an ability to slice through congestion with the dribble nicely. She attacked pressure, exploited space and scored challenged shots. Fast and heady she also played at the top of full court pressure. An under-the-radar guard colleges should take a look at.
