The Summit: Talent Showcases and Watch List

<p>Prep Girls Hoops events give local teams a chance to showcase their talent, even when the rosters aren't filled with household names. Every event seems to uncover a few players who deserve a closer look, and this weekend was no different. Here are a few names that earned a spot on my watch list and should be on your radar moving forward.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Watch List Point Guard:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Mckenzie is developing to become an efficient point guard.</p>   <p>Saturday, McKenzie was able to find herself in the paint on most possessions. From there, she was able to read the defense, make sound decision to pass, or get to her patented jump stop to finish.</p>   <p>Defensively, she is no slouch as she is physical and secretly fast. Look for McKenzie to finish this AAU season strong.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Watch List Shooting Guard:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Nevaeh is instant offense.</p>   <p>She came off the bench Saturday and quickly put up four points in less than two minutes of game time. She is extremely fast with the ball and can get to the basket before the defense is set. She can become nearly hard to stop when her outside shot is falling.</p>   <p>Her game carries over to the defensive side as she can suse that same speed along with quick hands to create on the ball steals or passing lane breakups.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Watch List Two-Way Player:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Abigail has a high motor.</p>   <p>Abigail turned up her defense the second half on Saturday. I counted five pass break ups that allowed her team to stay within striking distance as she has an endless motor on the defensive side.</p>   <p>Offensively, she primarily played on the wing with a descent dep ball but also became a reliable secondary point guard when needed.</p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Stock Riser Point Guard:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Solest has a well defined game.</p>   <p>She is your traditional point guard who has full command of the ball and the offense. She plays under control and stays within the tempo of the game.</p>   <p>Solest has a good change of speed followed by smooth control of the ball that allows her to create for herself when the play breaks down. </p>    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Top Players to Watch:</h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Harper was everywhere Saturday.</p>   <p>Early 8am Saturday, took no time for me to realize Harper was willing to play multiple positions for her team. </p>   <p>Defensively, she played the middle of the zone well as she was able to multitask by listening to her coaches directions while staying in the action. Harper kept her hands active in the passing lanes during backdoor cuts. </p>   <p>Offensively, Harper played more of forward role where she set picks, moved well without the ball, and commanded the rebounding game.</p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Vyktorya has good size and runs the floor well. </p>   <p>Both sides of the ball Vyktorya plays hard and smart as she understand the importance of positioning.</p>   <p>Offensively, she is best on the elbow or short corner with a quick rip through or jab step first move that will catch most bigs off guard. She then has a quick jump allowing her to finish before her defender can contest. </p>
