2027 Player Rankings Update: Guards In Major Roles This Szn

Below we talk about five guards out of the 2027 Class, that could play major roles this Winter season during High School ball at the Varsity level come November. Each of the individuals listed has shown their worth either on the high school floor or AAU travel floor in the past and they are ready to keep that rolling moving into the Winter.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    Mariah Dixon of Johnston High School stepped onto the Varsity scene last Winter and make her presence known almost immediately. Dixon was probably one of the only players that we didn't account for going into last Winter and we won't be making that mistake again. If you watched Dixon compete with their group in the past - you know that she makes some great plays on and off of the basketball. She is a smaller guard on the roster, who makes a big impact in anything she is doing. It's really easy to take the floor with an undefeated team and to look good along side while doing very little but that is not what we are seeing. Dixon was a playmaker last year across the board whenever she could be and that's going to lead her into a great Senior season ahead with the Dragons.     We really have not had a chance to see Presley Zeutenhorst at her full capacity the last three seasons but that all should change this Winter when they have a new coaching staff and new system on both sides of the floor. Offensively, Zeutenhorst is a steady guard, who is solid when she is driving to the rim. She likes to attack on the left side from the outside as her go too but she also can switch things up and basically attack from anywhere on the outside with her ability to finish on either side of the basket. I see Zeutenhorst have more of a steady role moving forward. She play the game the right way and that's going to lead to production before she ends up graduating the high school ranks.     Ashlen Kingland will return for her Senior season with Forest City High School as their top Assisting asset on roster from a year ago. As a Junior Kingland dished out 2 APG on the offensive side as their distributor. She showed up here and there in other positive statistical categories but she stood out the most as being someone that could be a really good pass-first PG. She thinks of others first and asks questions later, which you can see first hand by watching her compete whenever. This season the group as a whole will be looking for more prospects to step up as they graduate a lot of their production from years past and Kingland is going to help that cause. It would not be shocking if she stepped onto the court as their top dawg in charge by the time this season rolls around in just a few months.     The main monster of Norwalk is going to return once again this Winter as their main producer but when things get tight and the ball games because close, others will need to pitch in at a steady rate and one of those players will be Payton Travis. Travis competes as a CG with versatility. She is the type that can be moved all around the floor, doing whatever is asked of her as a Guard to produce. She is solid within her own scoring ability, she is smart enough to know when to pass compared to trying to score, and she can defend multiple positions. As you can tell Travis checks off a lot of boxes and that's going to help her kill it this Winter with the Warriors once again.     Several Guards are going to be asked to step up this winter at Waterloo West with the opportunity they will have available. One of those guards, who could make her mark in a big way before graduation is CG - Taraji Moore. This entire group has some ballers and Moore could be a steady player who produces for them over the next twelve months. Moore has a steady handle, some killer instincts, and she understands the X's and O's at a better than average rate for her age level. She also isn't afraid to defend, rebound, or get physical in anyway with the matchup across from her. All in all, Waterloo West should surprise some this Winter if they just take it one game at a time.
