2028 Unranked Prospects in the Border Region

Every time I go out to scout, I am amazed at the depth of talent in the New York Border Region. It seems there is always some player that catches my eye who I haven't seen play before. And some I have seen multiple times, and am surprised they haven't earned more recognition. The Class of 2028 is no exception. Many players are not yet ranked, but are certainly deserving. Here is a glance at some of the 2028 prospects who are not yet ranked, but could be soon.    [player_tooltip player_id='1867230' first='Mia' last='Natale'] of Amsterdam should certainly elevate into the rankings next season. Natale is already on the Prep Girls Hoops Watch List. Natale is a pure scorer, but can also play the point guard position. She can score the ball in a variety of ways. Natale has excellent court vision to find open teammates. She can put the ball on the floor to drive by the defense and score at the rim. Natale also utilizes an effective spin dribble to create shots. She is a very good ballhandler who understands how to create space between herself and defenders.     I have seen [player_tooltip player_id='1882496' first='Maggie' last='Speshock'] play several times this year, between high school, showcases, and summer league, and she never fails to impress. Speshock is a versatile player who can dominate inside and out. Her strength is her game in the paint. Speshock is a powerful post player and a strong finisher. She is a relentless rebounder who scores off putbacks. Speshock can help out the backcourt with her ball-handling skills. She's always playing downhill and is tough to stop driving to the hoop. Speshock can step outside and knock down perimeter shots from 3-point range as well.     [player_tooltip player_id='1882501' first='Payton' last='Rundell'] is an elite athlete from Colonie High School. Not only is she an outstanding basketball player, but she is also the star quarterback for the flag football team. Rundell is a three-level scorer. She can pull up for mid-range jumpers, knock down shots from behind the 3-point arc, or get to the basket to score off the bounce. Rundell is the most dynamic finisher at the rim I have seen all season. She is an excellent ball-handler and a superior passer. As solid as she is on offense, defense may be her greatest strength. Rundell is an incredible defender with unmatched anticipation skills. She absolutely needs to vault into our Prep Girls Hoops rankings.     [player_tooltip player_id='1882803' first='Violet' last='Berry'] combined with Reece Duprey to form a lethal combination for Peru this season. Berry may be a six-footer, but she can do the things that smaller players can do. She has a very high basketball IQ and has superior court vision that she uses to produce easy shots for teammates. Berry is a strong finisher in the lane and can score through traffic. She runs the floor well to score on runouts. Berry can face-up for mid-range jumpers with a smooth touch or post up in the lane. She is an outstanding rebounder. Her wingspan allows her to block shots and defend the rim. Berry is a player with unlimited upside.     [player_tooltip player_id='1186432' first='Sage' last='Shanahan'] is what I call a Blue Collar player. She does the dirty work in the paint that leads to a team winning. Shanahan is capable of dominating a game in the paint. She is a tenacious post defender. Shanahan plays with a high-revving motor every second. She is a relentless rebounder who pulls down double-digit boards in every game she plays in. Shanahan is especially strong on the offensive glass, giving her team extra possessions and scoring on put-backs. She is a good shooter around the lane area. I feel Shanahan will increase her point output and develop into a double-double machine next season.     I have also seen [player_tooltip player_id='1882821' first='Zoey' last='Dickinson'] play a lot this summer, and she keeps getting better. Dickinson is a very good shooter. She can knock down 3-pointers from the top of the key, wing, and baseline. Her strength is getting her feet set and knocking down shots off the catch. She has a very quick release, which is difficult for defenders to stop. Dickinson's length helps her to be a strong defender and rebounder. She has very good court vision and understands how to find teammates for high-percentage shots. I expect her to play a more significant role for Tamarac next season.
