Built For Basketball: PGH Sparkle City Slam Day 1

Day 1 of the Sparkle City Slam 17U in Spartanburg, SC did not disappoint! The Southeast teams came in ready to compete, and the level of talent on display was outstanding. It was a pleasure watching so many athletes leave it all on the floor.    [player_tooltip player_id='1605803' first='Destinee' last='Grant'] is a relentless offensive rebounder who consistently creates second-chance opportunities. She finishes well around the rim, highlighted by a smooth reverse layup and a strong one-dribble power move.   She runs the floor hard in transition, establishes deep post position, and isn't afraid to claim her spot in the paint. Grant also shows touch with a reliable mid-range floater, adding another scoring option to her game. Her high motor is evident on free throws, where she crashes the glass aggressively to generate easy put-back baskets.     [player_tooltip player_id='1819845' first='Jayla' last='Thweatt'] is a reliable free-throw shooter and makes smart reads in the pick-and-roll, consistently recognizing the defender and sealing effectively on her rolls to the basket.   Don't let her size fool you, she's much more than a post player. She can stretch the floor by knocking down shots form beyond the arc, attack the rim with confidence, and score efficiently from the midrange. Thweatt's versatility makes her a difficult matchup because she can impact the game from all levels. She also rebounds with determination on both ends of the court, creating extra possessions for her team and limiting second-chance opportunities for opponents. Defensively, she communicates well, rotates effectively, and uses her positioning the disrupt opposing offenses.     Janiyah Quiller is an aggressive guard who constantly attacks the middle of the floor and finishes through contact, regardless of her size. She plays with toughness and determination, creating opportunities by forcing jump balls and competing for every possession. Quiller runs the floor hard in transition, bringing energy on both end of the court and making hustle plays the positively impact the game.   She competes with a high motor and never back down form bigger opponents. Defensively, she applies pressure, stays active and uses her effort to disrupt the opposing team's rhythm. Her relentless approach, competitive mindset and willingness to do the little things maker her a valuable asset to any team.     [player_tooltip player_id='831289' first='Campbell' last='Childers'] is a true three-level scoring threat with deep shooting range, capable of knocking down shots from well beyond the arc. She's the kind of player every team wants-competitive, confident, and relentless.   Defensively, Childers plays with toughness and intensity, applying constant pressure and never giving opponents room to breathe. She runs the floor exceptionally well, has outstanding court vision, and consistently makes the right play. Around the basket, she's fearless attacking the rim and finishing through contact regardless of the size or strength of the defender. Offensively Williams is a physical, powerful player who can get to the rim with just one strong dribble. She does an excellent job using her size to seal defenders and create high-percentage scoring opportunities around the basket. She also has the ability to step out and knock down shots, making her a versatile scoring threat.
