Huntington Team Camp: Prospect Standouts

The Huntington Team Camp brought real summer basketball energy to Turner Elementary/Middle School on June 30, 2026, giving programs and prospects a chance to compete, develop, and make a statement before the school season arrives.   With teams including Huntington, Northwood, North Webster, Lakeview, Mansfield, Many, and BTW, the event had the type of competitive field that creates opportunity. Team camps are where players can separate themselves, not just by scoring, but by showing toughness, leadership, communication, defense, effort, and the ability to make winning plays.   The headline for this event was clear: Prospect Standouts.   From the opening matchup to the final game, players stepped on the floor with something to prove. Guards were tested with pressure, pace, and decision-making. Wings had to show they could defend, attack, and make plays in transition. Forwards and posts were challenged to battle under the rim, rebound, finish through contact, and bring physicality on both ends.   What made this event stand out was the mix of styles. Some teams brought speed and guard play. Others leaned on size, toughness, and paint presence. That created a strong evaluation setting because prospects had to adjust, compete, and show more than one part of their game.   For players, this was not just another summer run. She played with good pace, looked comfortable handling pressure, and showed she can contribute without forcing the issue. Her willingness to compete and keep making winning plays helped her stand out throughout the event.   Curtis has the tools to keep developing into a dependable two-way player. As she continues to sharpen her ball handling, shooting consistency, and finishing through contact, her stock should continue to rise. Booker is a strong interior prospect who brings an aggressive mindset every time the ball is around the rim.   What stood out most was her ability to protect the paint. London plays like a true rim protector, using her length and strength to challenge shots, block attempts, and make opponents think twice before attacking inside. She does not shy away from contact and brings a physical presence that gives her team a defensive anchor.   Offensively, Booker showed she can finish strong around the rim. She battles for position, plays through contact, and does a good job using her body to score inside. When she catches the ball near the basket, she looks to go up strong and make defenders pay. She brought a steady presence to the floor and showed she can impact the game with effort, toughness, and confidence.   Brown competed hard on both ends of the court. Defensively, she stayed active, worked to pressure the ball, and showed good effort staying connected to her matchup. She played with a high motor and did not back down from physical play, which helped her stand out in a competitive camp setting.   Offensively, Janya showed promise as a player who can attack, move without the ball, and stay involved in the flow of the game. She played with confidence, looked to make smart decisions, and showed flashes of being able to create opportunities for herself and her teammates.   What makes Brown a prospect to watch is her competitive mindset. She plays hard, accepts contact, and brings energy that coaches can build on. As she continues to develop her ball handling, shooting consistency, and finishing ability, her game has room to keep growing. At the Huntington Team Camp, Edmonson played with confidence, energy, and a strong competitive spirit, making her presence felt on both ends of the floor.   Offensively, Kaylee is a gifted young player with the ability to score from all three levels. She can knock down shots from the perimeter, attack the mid-range, and use her strength to finish around the rim. Her ball-handling ability makes defenders respect her, and her combination of guard skill and physical strength allows her to create matchup problems.   Defensively, Edmonson brings a high motor and great effort. She stays active, competes hard, and shows a willingness to impact the game in more ways than just scoring. Whether she is pressuring the ball, rebounding, or pushing the pace, Kaylee plays with energy and toughness.   As talented as she already is, the exciting part is that she still has room to grow. One area that will help her game continue to rise is learning when to attack and when to trust the open teammate. There were moments when she drew multiple defenders on her drives, which shows how much attention she commands. As she continues to develop, making that extra pass to an open teammate will make her even harder to guard and help her team have even more success.   There were also times when she rushed her shot or pulled from a little too deep, but that is part of the learning process for a young player with big-time confidence. With more experience, Kaylee will continue to learn how to slow the game down, pick her spots, and let the game come to her.
