Ranked Bigs To Keep An Eye On in The Class of 2027

As we move throughout the Summer season we will continue to highlight our New York Prep Girls Hoops ranked players. Here are five bigs that you should keep an eye on as they head into their senior season.    Charlise is one of our highest-ranked players in the class of 2027, and it's for great reason. Standing at 6'5", her height and frame are among the first things you notice when you see her on the court. Starns has legitimate two-way potential. She's gifted on the offensive end, dominating in the paint. While also providing spacing on the perimeter as a jump-shooting threat. Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, Starns uses that size to her advantage. Charlise is an elite rim protector and absolutely gets after it on the glass.     Emely Belis Del Rosario asserts her dominance in the paint in a way that not a lot of bigs do in her class. She excels with her back to the basket. The combination of her footwork and touch around the rim is a beauty to see. Emely can earn her points in a multitude of ways. Her dominance not only translates to points but also to relentless play on the glass. She can also anchor a defense just as well as anyone we have seen in the class. Emely has great timing as a shot blocker and is a true intimidator for opposing players getting into the paint. Jackson is a strong, big player who definitely plays like it. Her ability to win the position battle on the glass is remarkable. Malia consistently owns the boards, making her a force to be reckoned with for opposing bigs. She can also take over a game offensively by punishing her matchup on the block. Jackson has great hands for a big, usually translating into a nice, soft touch around the rim. She is a capable shooter from the mid-range as well, showing some versatility in her offensive game.     [player_tooltip player_id='868365' first='Maggie' last='Volmer']'s motor can impact the game at an extremely high level. She always seems to be around the ball, especially as a rebounder. Volmer consistently generates second-chance opportunities for her team. She's able to make defenses pay on the interior as well with her skill set in the post. Maggie is a reliable rim protector who holds her ground on the post. She's a disciplined player on that end of the floor. Volmer plays with a ton of energy but stays composed whenever she's on the floor. Her dominance around the rim is on full display when she steps onto the court. Frankie can also get after it on the glass while being a true disruptor in the paint on the defensive end. The other things Chiaravalle does make her an intriguing prospect. She's able to make plays as a big and can be a zone breaker with her shot from 15 feet out. Frankie has active hands as a defender. Not only does she protect the rim, but she's capable of using her size and hands to apply pressure.
