Recruiting Update: July 14th, 2026

Here are a few athletes out of Iowa that have recently been offered or they have recently committed to compete at the next level following their impressive AAU seasons this Summer.   Every player listed has shown off their skill-set over the years with their varsity high school team and that has helped them prove to recruiters that they have what it takes to suit up at the next level following their high school careers. Coming off of leading her Varsity team last Winter as their main distributor, Avery Besler is finishing up a successful campaign on the road this AAU season with her AIA program. Besler is a true PG. The type you can give the ball to and trust in big moments to make the right play. Offensively she is never trying to force action by scoring, she is more of a threat as a creator. She will get into the teeth of the defense and dish out after making everyone sink in, while still being someone that can hit a floater or layup if everyone lays off of her in those situations. Besler has recently received some interest from the D3 level around the Midwest. If she can finish out her month of July with more momentum, she should be taking some more visits this Fall.     Samantha Reis will join her sister at Rockhurst University to the foreseeable future following this final Winter season at Waukee High School. Reis is a knockdown SG. She doesn't need much time or space to let it go and for it to be a swish. She is accurate both off the catch and off the dribble from all distances over half court and she is also a solid defender on that side of the ball. At the next level I see Reis as a long distance sniper who plays with contagious energy. She has demonstrated what she can do on the Varsity floor over the years and that should be the case once more this upcoming season.     Briar Cliff is offering a lot of respectable talent out of the Midwest lately as they look to keep up with their success the last couple of years. Someone that they recently offered with ample size for her position is the SF out of Izabella Farley. Farley knows how to play a simple type of play style. She works hard and plays through her fundamentals. She has a ton of discipline on defense so she makes her mark as being someone that can alter a high amount of attempts by the opponent near the hoop each contest. This BC offer is another to add to the group of Farley. She has a few interested parties at this point in her process so now it's just about figuring out where feels the most like home.     Elliott Burkle of Woodward High School averaged 9 PPG and 5 RPG last season as a Junior at the CG position. She mainly moved all over the floor and played where her team needed her the last few years but her main position would be considered a a CG at the next level. Burkle recently received an offer from D3 - Alverno College out of Wisconsin. Alverno is located in Milwaukee and they compete out of the Coast-to-Coast Conference. This is one of Burkle's first offers from the next level to keep competing out of high school. If she is dedicated enough and it seems like the right fit, I could see this being a good connection in the end. Who knows what that might lead too but for now, it's definitely a step in the right direction to keep things moving.     There should be more interest around Ava Carolan of West Lyon. Carolan is a 5'11 SG/CG, who thrives at the 2 and 3 positions on the floor. She can move between both and produce at high rates with other skilled individuals around her. She has proven that this AAU season over the last couple of months at an impressive rate with Team Warwick. West Lyon is always a respectable program. They win a lot of games and they graduate some ballers in the process. What more can you ask for? Ava Carolan will be one of those ballers in future conversations looking back but for now, she recruiting journey is still wide open as she looks for the right fit for her future.
