Select Super Showcase: Standing Out Under the Spotlight

The Select Super Showcase is a Live Period tournament that's on my coverage schedule year after year. Welcoming hospitality, organization, elite competition, participation by Michigan clubs, a reasonable driving distance, a high volume of college coaches in the gym, and dozens of courts in close proximity make this a premier event. These prospects stood out under the spotlight:    Macy is playing basketball at a high level right now and she's consistently separating herself on the court whether it's AAU or high school competition. Macy turned in an All-Tournament First Team performance at the PGH Michigan SVSU College Tour and added an exclamation point at the Select Super Showcase. Macy has 6-foot length, ahtleticism, a muscular frame, pinpoint accuracy from beyond the arc, polished footwork, and agility that shouts high level guard. She separated herself on the court, sinking multiple corner threes and another triple from the wing. Macy sprinted the floor in transition and made a smooth transfer for a full speed catch and finish. She has good touch around the basket. Macy attacked off the bounce and used a nice euro step move to score in traffic, maintained her balance on a drive, pivoted, and kicked the ball out to an open teammate for a three. She moved her feet to stop dribble penetration on the defensive end and walled up to take away shots. Macy shot the ball accurately from three, finished with ease, and separated herself as an elite prospect again at Northwood Team Camp. She's one of the biggest stock risers in the 2028 class right now.     Myah turned in a great performance for Mystics 17U S40 at the Select Super Showcase. She makes defenses pay for giving her room to shoot on the perimeter. Myah drained an open three from the wing and drilled another one from way downtown in the slot. She's crafty in the lane and used a great counter pivot to score a contested layup in traffic. Myah handled the ball with poise, and her confidence was a separator on the court.     Josie made a comprehensive impact on the court for Mystics 17U P24 at the Select Super Showcase. She crashed the glass to score an offensive rebound putback and created high-percentage looks off dribble penetration. Josie stared at the rim to freeze her defender, shifted gears to drive-by, then finished with a strong and-one bucket through contact at the rim. She beat the first defender, got to the second level and third level, then dished out assists after drawing the last defender. Josie can score at all three levels and distribute the ball with great vision, making her a dynamic playmaker in the backcourt.     Ciara is back to full health, and she delivered an impressive performance for Mystics Chosen 17U at the Select Super Showcase. Her length, mobility, skill as a facilitator, and silky smooth perimeter jumper were separators on the court. Ciara swished multiple threes from the corner and the slot with a quick release. She made a quick catch and finish in stride for a layup. Ciara has skill and versatility as a guard-wing prospect that will translate to the next level.     Lyla has a polished skill set and operates with a high IQ as the lead guard. She buried a smooth catch-and-shoot wing three with a quick release. Lyla penetrates the defense with quick crossovers and behind-the-back dribbles, goes up strong to cause fouls, and delivers crisp passes to open teammates. Lyla makes the hustle plays, defends, shoots efficiently from beyond the arc, has good touch in traffic, and makes the right play. She looked solid for [program_tooltip program_id='714462' first='Michigan' last='Premier'] 16U at the Select Super Showcase and will be Howell's leader this winter.     Avery gave Legends U an edge with her effort on both ends and physicality in the paint. She closed out quickly on shooters, kept her balance, and shuffled laterally effectively to close driving lanes. Avery sprinted from behind to poke the ball away from an unsuspecting ball handler, hustled after the loose ball going out, and saved it to a teammate. Avery used a strong seal in the paint to get position, caught an entry pass with soft hands, went up strong to draw the foul, and drained both free throws with confidence. She made smart basket cuts and finished well off two feet in traffic. Avery is a talented perimeter player who can handle the ball, slash to the hoop, and knock down open threes at a high clip. She showed another element to her game as a capable interior player who's not afraid to battle with the bigs.
