Today was the 2nd Annual iKHONICS' Gym Middle School Showcase at iKHONICS Gym located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This is a showcase that brought together some of the best 2032 and 2031's in the state to compete under one roof as they move into their next year of action. With the new rule being approved that 8th graders can compete at the Varsity level beginning this Winter, it changes up the game-plan for almost every program across this State so this event is a great way to be seen for some of the prospects who will be competing with Varsity this season.

Over the next few days we will be highlighting everyone who attended this event in one way or another but below we discuss five prospects that are going to be upcoming ballers at the high school level when they finally get there in a couple of years.

Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

Maylin Breuer has a solid mixture of height and strength. She is one of the taller, more dominating prospects that we saw at this event. She stands right around 5'8 and she has the muscle mass to pair along with that to help her hold her own within the midrange and near the bucket. She does have the ability to do things from the outside but her main advantage right now is how much she can bully weaker or smaller players next to the basket. With steady progression over the next couple of years, I'm sure we will see Breuer killing it on the high school floor in one way or another for throughout the rest of her carer.

You would say that Kennedy Walters is a mix-bag right now. She competes with a versatile play-style. Offensively, she can move and handle the ball on the outside as a guard, she can post against smaller opponents, and she can attack from the midrange. Defensively, she can wall up against anyone that might be bigger and she can stick with those who might be a little bit smaller overall. Walters was someone we saw FLYING all over the floor on Sunday morning, giving it all she had - effort wise. She was one of the first on the ground for loose ball opportunities and her smile never left her face throughout. You can tell when someone loves the game just for the fun of it and Walters is one of those players, which you love to see from an outside perspective.

Shifty. Crafty. Witty. These are some of the terms I would use to describe Bryleigh Cue of Lady Martin Bros Select and CR - Xavier High School. Cue is a shifty PG, that understands how to make plays. She is very hard to stick in front of on defense and she can be your main scoring threat or main assisting threat. Defensively - she gets her hands on a bunch of tips/deflections because of how active her hands and feet are. You could say this for each of these hoopers but Cue could be special within this sport. She seems to have, "it", for her age level. We just need to see how that continues to progress over the next few seasons before she reaches the Varsity floor.

The most impressive finisher on the day was Landree McCarville. McCarville has solid size for her position as a SF but how she stands out is from how often she converts next to the basket. If she has good spacing and time, you should just assume that it's going to be a make. Over McCarville's career we have seen moments where she will go an entire contest without missing from inside the lane. Her coordination and the way she moves around everyone else within 15 FT of the rim is going to be something to keep an eye on as she moves into the high school ranks over the next two years. If she can keep that up on offense while growing a little bit, everyone better watch out.

Maelea Green is not afraid to step up to take some contact. It seems like she welcomes it more than anything else. Green, the 5'4 CG, moved all around the court on the outside on Sunday morning. At times she handle the rock and passed to start the team's action, while at other moments she was moving off of the ball - cutting into space and looking for open chances before the defense could get down the court. Whatever Green's team needed from her, she did and she did it with conviction. We always say you are only as good as the role you can be successful with on your team and Green was good in this event in multiple ways.
