Hoopers Ready To Build On Their Past Success

The hoopers in this piece are individuals that set the foundation for future success last season when they competed on the Varsity floor. This time around they will be looking to build on that foundation and make a name for themselves across the state.   Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!    There isn't a whole lot of information out there on [player_tooltip player_id='1900862' first='Pravionna' last='Petersen'] of Northeast Goose Lake High School other than the fact that she led her age level in CPG (Charges Per Game) last season as a Freshman for this group with 9 in total on her season. For someone coming off the bench, as a new face within the program and as someone who isn't the most dominant scorer - this is impressive. She saw time in 23 contests throughout the Winter as a whole and she made her mark in little ways each time she came into the game. She mainly worked near the bucket on both offense and defense, showing her worth in-between the blocks every night.     As we dove into the program that is Janesville, something or someone stood out to us and that was [player_tooltip player_id='1900867' first='Quinn' last='Sweeney']. Mainly because Sweeney stands at a true 6'3 with touch, coordination, and footwork for days. She understands that she is a force to be dealt with for opponents on either side of the ball. She is someone that is going to rebound, score, and block A LOT by the basket over her career because of the combination of height, situational awareness, quick reaction times. As a Freshman last year Sweeney played really well but didn't even lead her team in PPG. That was done by an upperclassmen, who will be returning this Winter once again for her Senior season. If these two can be on the same page over the next few months - the sky is the limit for them. In WBB, 6'3 is the equivalent to 6'9/6'10 and in our state right now there aren't too many at those heights so that gives them the ultimate advantage to make a run when the Playoffs begin. I'm hoping Sweeney can build off of the success she demonstrated as a Freshman. If she plays her own game and just worries about what she can control - she is going to be just fine.     Jhaliana Guy put together a memorable Winter campaign last season when she returned to her hometown of Clinton High School to finish out her high school career. Guy, the #18 prospect in the Country out of the 2028 Class according to ESPNW, basically broke every record that Clinton had in place prior to her arrival. Now her future is all about how she can build off of that. The main goal for Guy this Winter will be seeing if she can lead her Clinton program to the State Tournament in DSM within the 4A Class. Looking at the general outline of this Class and Clinton should be a Top 8 team all Winter. They should win most of their regular season contests and from there, it's all about what Guy can do to lead her pack as they get closer to the State Tournament.     If we are looking at last year's season in the terms of pure production numbers - Maliya Berry of Murray High School is going to return this Winter as someone who is ready to show her worth yet again after what she set in place as a Sophomore. 21 PPG, 9 RPG, 5 SPG, 1 APG, 1 BPG. That was her stat line while leading the Mustangs to an overall record of 16-7. Taking account of the of the factors that we can think of and Berry could post even better numbers individually over the next eight months on the Varsity floor. She has the skill set, the team's main objective is to do everything around her, and she plays the game the correct way - all of that mixed together sounds like a recipe for success. Now all she has to do is go out there and make it happen.     We should expect to hear the name Brielle Hoegh multiple times over the next two years before she graduates and possibly plays at the collegiate level. Hoegh is a 6'1 PF, that has a simple but effective game-style. She loves to work by the hoop, doing everything she can to help impact winning for her team. Offensively, she was the most efficient scoring threat out of the 2028 Class. The conversion rate she had with her attempts near the blocks was noteworthy. She could be double or triple teamed - it didn't matter. She averaged scoring the rock at more than a 55% rate, which was very impressive. Their leading upperclassmen force that was on roster last Winter is now gone due to graduation so there will be a lot of opportunity for others to step up and I expect Hoegh to take full advantage of that.
